Peugeot RCZ sportscar all set for Frankfurt!

Peugeot RCZ

The Peugeot 308 RCZ concept was first showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2007 and exactly two years later the 2+2 coupe in its production form will be officially unveiled at the 2009 edition of the motor show, which will kick start in September.

Before the unveiling, the French automaker has decided to teased us with some images of the production model, simply called the Peugeot RCZ, their very own take on the Audi TT. If you notice, the coupe does not carry any numbers in its designation which makes it one of the few Peugeots which does not use the usual zero or double zero numbering system.

Peugeot RCZ

Peugeot claims it is the first car that does not use the number system but technically it isn’t – they must have forgotten about some other examples such as the Peugeot Partner and Peugeot Bipper vans. But then again, those are vans… and this is the RCZ!

Looking at the images, you can tell right away that the production version is not very far off in terms of the exterior styling from the 2 years old concept variant. You can expect the RCZ to feature powerplants offered in the Peugeot 308, 3008 and 5008 series of cars.

    sweet, sweet peugeot!

slowly but surely, peugeot’s taking cue from italian makes which is a great direction in terms of design language.

i liked how conti makes such as peugeot and citroen produce splendid press releases….it’s so……..european! :)

the shot of a guy admiring his ride….that’s what we conti owners do everyday anyway…. without fail! :)

the roof seem to be the centre of attraction! hahahaha..

it is indeed a very good addition then. not only it solved the problem about how to give more head room space to the occupants, but generate wild imaginations and comments too!

That’s the double bubble roof design. I think the RCZ is the first of its kind in Peugeot cars line up history. There was never a Peugeot roadgoing sportscar (although Peugeot did built loads of concept sportscars over the years).
The RCZ is a very nice car & should make a competitive Audi TT rival.

spotted the car today being tested on the mountain roads here in new zealand. I have to say it is a beauty, it had some camouflage on it but looks a lot nicer than the TT, something i didnt think peugeot could do! It looks better in the flesh than those teaser pics, cannot wait to see the finished product
