Here’s a recap – with some additional photos – on the GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept, which will make its debut at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It’s shorter, wider and taller than the standard GMC Sierra pickup truck it is based on.
An “extreme truck” not unlike the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, the Sierra AT HD Concept is fortified with heavy-duty hardware such as Fox off-road shocks, custom control arms, all round jounce shocks, automatic locking differentials and a front stabiliser bar with electric disconnection. It wears 35-inch BFGoodrich KM2 tyres that wrap 20-inch aluminum wheels.
It looks like a beast, and has the heart to match. Under that double vented hood lies a Duramax 6.6-litre V8 diesel producing 397 hp and 1,037 Nm of torque. Payload capacity is estimated at 1,225 kg (2,700 pounds) while towing capacity is rated at 5,896 kg or 13,000 pounds.
Gallery after the jump. Chevrolet Captiva owners, does the steering wheel look familiar?

i wonder will we have such vehicle on our road soon?
great vehicle during banjir season
Why the need to produce such a monster when the rest of the world is going green and the price of petrol is steadily climbing to USD100s?
Just imagine, 6.6-litre V8 diesel producing 397 hp and 1,037 Nm of torque. If you really need such power to carry things, why not hire a 3 tons lorry.
1 question mate… will u drive a 3 tons lorry? nope? so that’s the answer… & btw, i don’t think a 3 tons lorry can go off-road as good as this beast… :)
i think this car is not just for u n me,though we r more rational in the way of thinking, this beast is created to feed those people hunger for power n torque n style….
really an off road monster…..who can afford this monster must hv no problem to pay for the road tax n maintainance ….
Truly brute monster truck…i hope it’ll transform to fierce robot with a huge tyre as shield… :)
I guess the HD stands for Heavy Duty.. Its the same thing all over again during the 80’s when almost everything manly must end with “turbo”; turbo hairgel, turbo shaver, turbo dishwasher, turbo vacuum etc. Soon we’ll be seeing lots of products with HD badge all over them. HD fuel, HD shampoo, HD raybans, HD window etc. I’m just saying.
what a truck … give me one please
New Iron Hide :)
Monster trucker…..damnnnn…
why can’t they design their own car….?
totally copycat from Big Wall car’s design….
this is nice….love it….. can destroy car that always do wrong parking…
