Honda to launch 12 new models, introduce new tech and assemble hybrid cars in China by 2015

Honda will be a very busy company in China, as it lines up 12 new models and kickstart production of hybrid vehicles there before the end of 2015, Automotive News China reports. Of the dozen, three will debut this year, and they are the Crider (later this month), the new Accord and the Jade (both in September).

You’ve seen the new Accord from our Bangkok show report, while the production Crider made its debut at the recent Shanghai show. The China-only C-segment sedan will slot in between the Civic and Accord. Meanwhile, the good looking Jade MPV (pictured above) is the production version of the Concept S Honda showed at Beijing 2012.

Honda also plans to build hybrid vehicles in China within the next three years, the automaker said last week. To make its battery-equipped cars more affordable, Honda said it would develop and assemble the vehicles in China using Chinese-made parts.

New tech such as collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control and lane monitoring will also be introduced in the world’s largest car market, starting with the new Accord. The company also plans to introduce its HondaLink infotainment service in China within the next three years.

Honda, which sold 589,198 vehicles in China last year, is aiming to shift 1.3 million units annually there by 2015.
