Honda will be teasing its NSX supercar at Indy in early August – an Acura NSX prototype dressed with custom graphics will lap the road course in advance of the Indy 200 IndyCar Series race in Lexington, Ohio.

The NSX isn’t due until 2015, but nothing like offering a glimpse of what it’ll all shape up like. The exterior of the running prototype isn’t the final word, because it maintains the styling and proportions of the NSX Concept that originally debuted in Detroit in 2012 and was ‘updated’ for the NAIAS this year.

It will however wear the production vehicle’s mid-mounted next-gen VTEC V6 mill, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an integrated electric traction motor. Two additional electric motors control torque distribution to each individual rear wheels independently, and help make up the three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system.

The NSX is set to be produced at the newly-established 184,000 sq ft Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio.

It’s sad to see a great Japanese car isn’t Japanese any more.

Since this car is made in America by fat block Ohio, not sure it’s as reliable as the old and yet mighty Honda NSX.

A 20 year old car still very reliable and the price of the car appreciate.

  • There’s a lot of(possibly American) complaints on this car in international website. But I do agree that this is now less Japanese and more American given that it so being exclusively built in Ohio. Honda could have open a 2nd production line in Japan but they didn’t(or haven’t). This is a very important car for Honda, and I really do hope it turns out awesome, but Its just feel very American than Japanese everytime I looked at it, not that thats a bad thing but the predecessor was great because its so very Japanese. And the LFA and GTR have proven that being Japanese isn’t a bad thing at all, it’s bloody brilliant.

    • Why is a Toyota made in Thailand still considered a japanese car, but a Honda made in USA not?

Well, do you think that those Toyota that are made from Thailand are fully reliable as their Japanese counterparts?

The answer is No. Japanese made car with passion.

But Thai Toyota is really robustly built. Those parts are proven toughest parts. Can you find any pick up that are more reliable than Hilux?

      • It’s still a Japanese car, but I’am saying it’s less Japanese. the Vios/City are still develope by the Japanese, not a Thailand team, (from my understanding, correct me if I’am wrong)They are basically booted up version of the Yaris/Fit and those have almost 80% Japanese input. Slap in a boot, renamed and sent in down to SEA. Thou Dugong Vios did see sales in Japan.

This one as the people on the international sites are saying is headed by a almost fully American development team. not to say that it’s bad or haven’t been done before, most Acuras are develope entirely in the US along with bespoke cars Tailored suit to the US market, usually trucks, vehicles like the Tacoma and Odeysee(US). But this is the NSX, a succesor to a car Honda proudly develope in Japan, and represent everything great about Honda, being very Japanese in its driving characteristic and design. This one looks American in design and also marketing stretagy. Theres nothing Honda about it. Not that its bad, but bearing in mind it holds that name it is almost sacrilegious. From the marketing stretagy, it seems to me that this one is here to get profit, It seems like Honda hasn’t even put any of their hearts and souls into it.

BUT, the car has only been reveled for little over a year. and little is known about it. I have to wait til 2015 and see if I’ll happily eat my words or painfully accept it. But I want to see this along side greats like the 86, the LFA, the GTR and of course the original Japnanese Supercar, the 1st gen NSX.

The car built in Thailand some are engineered by Japanese, but NSX is engineered by American.
I consider Vios, Innova, Avanza as a Thai car, like people consider Focus and Fiesta as Euros, not American.

Japanese car can’t built by those white people actually, they don’t understand Japanese car.
Look FD2R and FN2R as an example. FN2R stand no chance winning FD2R. FN2R considerable as a really fun car, but FD2R is faster, corner better and sounds better, which also more enjoy.
American, Japanese and European built car in very own way. American was “Damn, my engine must biggest and consume more fuel in the segment” Japanese was “This car must be absolute balance and able to handle corners very well, our engine must withstand at least double or triple horsepower from stock after tuned by mad tuners” European is like “Leather seats and high quality materials, our car are fully efficient and use the least fuel. Our car are sporty yet comfort”
Every country has very different point of view on cars. American likes to drag race, Japanese like to drifting, Touge run or Wangan race (Highway racing), European like circuit racing.

      • Precisely my point. There is nothing to say that the car will be bad because some American dude is doing most of the work. but this is the NSX, a name so synonymous with the peak of Japanese automotive engineering, seeing it becoming a Ford GT is just sad…not bad, just so so sad. Is like seeing Lionel Richie deciding to pick up Rap song .

I’m more confident with best quality if Japan’s car brand was made in Japan by Japanese people..
