It has been awhile since we last saw the Proton Global Small Car a.k.a. P2-30A on test, so here’s a spy video filmed by our Euro spies showing the GSC in action.
Much is still covered, but seeing the car moving on video gives us a better estimation of its size. The signal lamps are in the inner edge of the headlamp cluster, next to the grille, and we can see bright white LED daytime running lights peeking out from below the headlamps.
There’s one point in the video where the test mule stops and starts again – when it moves off, you can see traction control keeping the wheels in check in the snow. We already know that ESP is part of the package from our previous set of interior spy shots.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Very stable and steady even driving on road full of snow it unlike Japanese cars sold in Malaysia. Good job Proton!
please provide me a video which shows japanese cars that look “unstable “and “not steady” in snow conditions.
please also teach me how to use your naked eyes to tell whether a car is either stable or unstable, steady or not steady in a video.
And are you trying to say japanese cars sold outside malaysia are better than those in malaysia?
how much u been paid per comment bro. I also want-lah.
Cloner will alway be cloner…no self confident. If a person has self confident he/she will not hiding behind other people names
Tq PaulTan ur my saver…now I can control my username here
damn u cloner!
Yeah, and the moment Malaysian salaries grew beyond the producers’ liking they’ll leave like hell & what’s left behind is the carcass which we have to clean up. Or are you saying we should suppress salary levels?
Don’t you guys learn anything from reading about Holden’s demise from Australia? (I forgot, bashers can’t really comprehend that well)
now u clone this username name
Are there any method to lock n protect our username n avatar?
now u change avatar to this avatar
Good! Very stable and steady even driving on road full of snow it unlike Japanese cars sold in Malaysia. Good job Proton!
Bro I believe the original statement was just a mere compliment towards Proton. I don’t see a reason for you to be so agitated. I don’t even comprehend the meaning of your comment. What are you trying to imply here?
Are u aware of such things as ‘Snow Tyres’?
Ah may be not! Because you are tropical fish.
I wanna know how gsc perform in boleh thunderstorm rain…
This car has vehicle stability control, just like preve and suprima which has traction control as well, thus very stable in wet conditions of Malaysia, just like my Preve.
Japanese cars in Europe available in 4wd / all wheel drive options. Proton ada?
bullshit. i drove nissan in milan. no 4wd! jangan membongak ahhh
Yeas, they even have four wheels on the roof there. Good RV
Memang pembongak dan dongki (dengki). Hanya subaru 4wd.
haha… You can know it’s stable by just looking at the picture. Produced by a country that never had snow and better than country with winter season.
Because this car has vehicle stability control, also good for wet and rainy conditions like in Malaysia.
Paul,Heard from insiders its an enhances Campro 1300cc Natural aspirated with 100hp/125nm and theres turbo variant too right?Hopefully this time price will be under RM45k
The snow countries won’t buy Proton. They prefer Ford Fiesta, VW Polo, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai i20, Kia Picanto etc. >_<
lampu gsc mcm ford…
They don’t care about brand. They’ll buy anything as long as it’s good.
That explains why there’s still some Proton 318GTi (Satria GTi) running here in Germany and Poland. Some of them even proud enough to wear R3 livery. And I think there’s still 300-400 active Satria GTi and Proton M21 (Putra) in UK.
The problem is it not good. Maybe sell 3-4 units. Oh ya.. asking 3 bil, develop a car and sell 3-4 units.
No wonder we are so near to bankrupt.
It’s taller than the VW Golf that passed by…
front wheel drive?
great improvement from our full-fledged national carmaker :D
good job Proton….so no need ask RM3 Billion lah…dah boleh hidup berdikari
You can say the same thing to GM – 80 years old still run to the American government for help!
Lagi tak tau malu!
great winter wonderland euro trip for proton engineers
Continental engineers also considered as Proton Engineers ar?
KIA also have continental engineeers
I hope you realize that he meant the German company “Continenal AG”, not ‘continental’ as in ‘european’
i thought peter schreyer is a korean….
OMG!! my whole life is a lie!!!
Most probably the testing work is ‘out sourced’ to Mat Sallehs who are more competent in driving in snowy condition.
Those were Continental’s engineers/test drivers la… Read first the other articles before making assumptions…
Again a new car from Proton? RM3 Billions received??? Huh~!!
ko ni tertinggal bas laaa…. ke baru join ‘tentera kacang’ hehe.
The stench of impending failure is in the air.
Only God knows.
will it sell it well?!
Suprima S saw less on the road
Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
another failure product by corrupted organization. congrats to those future owners and buyers. be prepared to face endless problems with this car.
I remembered the guy at Proton service center answered my complain, “Biasa-lah ni Proton”.
u should buy VW. the perfect car in the world.
I’ve been driving my Proton for the past 2 years and yet to see a problem. A few days ago I saw a new BMW 5 series broke down by road side.
Jeremy Clarkson wrote a nice article about how modern cars are more durable and tougher nowadays. It is down to the owner; Malas jaga, sendiri mau ingat.
I have a 10 yrs old Gen-2, clocking 250000km and still in perfect condition. Maybe it’s just you who don’t know how to take care of cars.
Yup, my 02 waja cps auto is nearing its 12th birthday with 320000 on the clock. Yet it still running perfectly. Now its up to my sister to look after. Havent heard any complaint from her yet. And for my new exora cfe, so far so good..
Engine seems so powerful! 1.3 turbo?!
Honestly, I’m quite skeptical about it being a ‘Global’ car when they can’t even establish a good name in the local market. Prove me wrong Proton, I challenge you!
Proton have hard time to change people’s perception partly due to the politic too.. We are Malaysian, we politic everything ;)
i wonder really how many cars Proton can sell in parts of the world that snows…
This the price of 3 billion funding to develop such cars!!!! Mampui lah…close shop lah!!!!
not related la bro. that fund their ask for new model la.
Malaysian weather is hot la ..why test on snow unless one drive to Mount KK. Habis lah duit tax aku……bangang oh…bangang.
Betui tu. Elok duit tax hang buat test keta kontot ni dekat bendang atau kebun sawit. Tak payah nak ikut orang luar test dekat salji. Elok duduk kampung ja.
yes, u r bangang. go google urself why lots of car test their prototype car in snow condition.
yea … why don’t you google to find out why people Proton so much?
nanti ada org naik Genting tak leh start…Proton jgk yg kena…aku pun byr tak jgk bro…bkn kau sorang..oh lupe mungkin kau byr lebih…
does there requirement to pass certain level need test in snow? there must be requirement for that matter. think positively. Rumours 2014 Honda City got 210Nm, but nobody critic Honda when they officially announced new Honda City only 140Nm. They sell low performance with high price. Malaysian like to be fool by others rather than proud with Proton.
Cmon Proton prove me wrong..If the price is right might consider trade in my dad old Corolla Altis…
Dude, they have already proved you right for nearly 30 years.
Hopefully, this car can stand up against the Fiesta, Pug 208, Swift, MyVi… and hopefully it won’t cost us 3 billion.
Our local recent car are at least on par with korean car but ahead frm asean project car. Every one got their own characteristic, for example korean got the look and protin got the superb handljng. Have a nice day!
give proton chance la kawan.yes i mean it…what do i care about 3Billion money…im not politician..not interested in politic talk..all i care is that they continue to build new cars so when i google paul tan in future i can have something interesting to read…for me…their latest products actually boleh tahan. if someone ask me to select between vios or suprima…i choose suprima..but maybe if between city and suprima..i’ll choose city because of its better fuel consumption and now offering better specs than before. OK..now continue bashing..kekeke
Trying to please your boss? haha …
off topic. If they want funding to do the Jebat Concept. I ain’t mad. lol
Please use better gear shift knob. The plasticky one is ridiculous
it looks just so-so onli.
then again, the dugong vios has looks that is not to everyone liking.
breakdown?
only time will tell.
my 08 blm jas yet to fail,
my 02 waja 1.8 has yet to fail,
my 93 LO pajero has yet to fail,
i guess i just look after them the way i should.
i do hope they get the pricing right, thats the main point now.
You must be a really careful person since your Waja 1.8 (Renault engine right?) has yet to fail. Any advice on preserving the ECU?
I had a Waja 1.8X for 8 years before sold it off @ Mileage of around 250kkm. The only thing that failed was the radiator fan. Other than that everything was fine. My only qualm was the maintenance cost..
Point is, as long as you take care and follow maintenance schedule, then everything should be fine.
It seems that there are many Japanese lackeys here barking
bila aa proton ni nak jual gila2 kat luar…jual kat chennai sama sumatera laa…ni keta kecik boleh laku kat sana…jual kat aus bukan laku pun…
aku pun tanak proton ni jadi jaguh kampung jekk.
jual keta korang kat luar in massive…atau jual jek kompeni korg
Proton lost RM105 ,000,000 the last 3 months.Remember all the SV,Super Premiums,R3 variants? These facelifts and price reductions do not hold water. They just boost some volume but cause HUGE LOSSES.
Now they are asking RM3 Billion from taxpayers and hope this Global Small Car can be GAME CHANGER.
It may boost sales volume a bit,but at the expense of profits.
It wont change anything. We are not pessimistic but the MANAGEMENT TURMOIL , POOR QC,and ABSENCE OF QUALITY FUEL EFFICIENT CARS spell the DOOM of Proton.
Proton is in CONSTANT DAMAGE CONTROL mode.It is in CRISIS and PANIC MANAGEMENT NOW.
We wish Proton well but time is not on its side.
While you’re right on the most part don’t deny that we’re not pessimistic. The public has been burned SO many times that they can do not much else now. Time is definitely against them. In order for them to survive, this car of theirs has to be soooo good as to wow everybody but even then, their negative image will not become a positive image overnight. Might just become less negative.
Pricing will be crucial for this car. Anything less than 40k will be good
Biasalah bro, everytime ” new” model come out, both Potong and local car reviews boasted the model will be ” game changer, first truly global car, asian bmw, everything developed in house by themselves” and lastly ” we received overwhelming resppnse with 4000 bookings since launch” but few month later, only seen few units on the road ( Suprima)
maybe most of the bookings failed to get a loan from the bank
Bro… you hit the nail and split it. So so true. This is not a typical syok sendiri company … it’s overwhelming syok sendiri.
I like the Emergency Button. Hope it’ll be there in final production model. This button give peace-of-mind to clients.
if price between viva n myvi, sure will sell well in malaysia. meter cluster, knobs better then preve what. hope its look better then some small car sell in malaysia.
In term of ride n handling..thumbs up to proton
In term of quality material use…so so
In term of design……so so
In terms of sucking public fund and syok sendiri … second to none.
hope this one will b successfull.. if not, can consider lah to sell proton, not close la ok.
As usual full safety package from Proton: ESC, Traction control. That make this car so steady and stable. You drive vios with snow condition like that even equipped with snow tyre your vios car will be only spinning not going anywhere since no traction sensor and will be very dangerous. Proton you are the man!
PRAY4MH370
Make sure they don’t use Campro engine (timing belt ).
People are fed up with the same engine being use for all the Proton Models ( Waja, Saga BLM, Exora, Persona and Gen 2. Other car producers don’t use timing belt for their engine anymore except older and smaller model cars. You can’t sell cars with old technology. People want variable timing valve (VVT, DVVT, VTC, VTEC and MIVEC and so on. For auto transmission it is CVT and conventional auto ( sludge box ). Latest CVT is reliable. Many car producers are using them. DSG which has fast gear changing attributes is problematic with recalls.
gsc want to compete with myvi?? cibai..fight with the best die like the rest..snow test my ars!
