Volkswagen Passat B8 to spawn CC, Alltrack variants

Der neue Volkswagen CC

The B8 Volkswagen Passat family is set to grow bigger with the inclusion of the next-generation CC and Alltrack variants, if a recent report from Car and Driver is to be believed. Chief designer Klaus Bischoff reportedly confirmed the development of these variants in the company’s Autogramm employee newsletter.

It seems that the low-slung CC will indeed receive a second generation despite the recently-unveiled regular B8 Passat being far sleeker than ever, although the current model is set to soldier on for another two years. The original, designed by former chief designer Murat Günak, was widely considered to be one of the first four-door “coupés”, following in the wake of the trendsetting Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.

Also on the cards to receive a second iteration is the Passat Alltrack, a rugged jacked-up version of the Passat Variant wagon with the company’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system. This would make sense, particularly as such vehicles retain a strong presence within the VW Group, what with Audi’s Allroad, Skoda’s Scout and Seat’s recent X-Perience range of cars.

Like the regular B8 Passat, the CC and Alltrack are expected to move to Volkswagen’s modular MQB architecture and make use of the company’s latest technologies such as new powertrains (like a 215 hp plug-in hybrid system), safety systems (including semi-autonomous Traffic Assist cruise control), MIB infotainment systems and an Active Info Display digital instrument cluster, among others.

once you are successful then, there is nothing wrong with making cars according to what you want. but first things first – make cars that can sell. meaning cars that people want. this is a lesson for you Proton (though i admit Iriz has path the way, ticking all the boxes right)

I like the new looks of the B8 Passat…looks sleek and professional plus the tech unveiled with this car is comparable with the other more premium German brands.

One could only imagine how good the next CC will be like. Just home VW Malaysia will sell it and its sedan sibling with decent spec…wonder if the 12.3-inch display will ever make it here?

Wearnes sales person told me not to buy the B7 unless willing to go carless every month (true story). If VW wants to have the B8 to be sold here, VW needs to iron out all the reliability issues. That goes for all the variants like CC too.

    I m using passat B7 2013,
    although it’s not problem free.
I would say that passat is well balance in performance, comfort, safety in D segment.

but ,I m not carless everymonth.
DSG works well. DSG fault mostly happen in pre 2013 units.

I m not satisfy with others issues, fuel pump humming,
rattle dash, other than that, works well.

For sure, I have to admit.
VW car tech are higher than average car maker.
but, SC , aftersell service, damn poor.

VW, U HAVE TO IMPROVE AFTER SELL SERVICE, TECHNICIAN LEVEL, WARRANTY RESPONSE!
IF NOT, NOBODY WILL BUY VW ANYMORE!
