The all-new, sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro has been confirmed for a world premiere that is set to take place on May 16. For fans who find themselves in the vicinity of Detroit, even better. The debut is slated to take place in Belle Isle where the day-long event will involve taxi rides in the Camaro Z/28, visits to a Camaro “museum” and an open dialogue session with some of the car’s engineers and designers.
From the array of spyshots that we’ve amassed, one will notice the slimmer, edgier styling language likely to feature on the new car – the thinner head and tail lamp housings remain the biggest giveaway. Apart from that, new stylistic details include a deeply-raked windscreen and what appears to be a lower roofline compared to the outgoing fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
Other changes include an elongated side window that could hint at a larger door cutout, which could lead to improved accessibility. At the rear, the camo’ed mule in our gallery wears a small spoiler while the aforementioned restyled rear lamp housings also appear to feature segmented assemblies à la Alfa Romeo 159. Also likely to go missing are the side gills found by the rear wheel fender on the current Camaro.
Under the skin, the new Camaro will be based on the Alpha platform that currently underpins the Cadillac ATS and CTS models. As a result, the new car will be expected to weigh considerably less than the fifth-generation icon. Under the bonnet, engine options will likely include a 3.6 litre V6 engine with 321 hp and the 6.2 litre supercharged V8 from the CTS-V with 640 hp and 855 Nm of torque.
Much like its closest rival from the Blue Oval, the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro is also expected to pack a 2.0 litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the current Cadillac CTS. Power figures for that mill includes a 272 hp rating. The final question that Chevrolet has to answer would be to address the availability of a RHD variant – even more so when one considers how popular the Mustang has become in Malaysia.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
i would love to see it on the road here against Ford Mustang but unfortunately CEO says has no plan to sell RHD form
The CEO needs to wake up to the world market and not just be a jaguh in their own kampung.
Damns…so dissapointed. i thought title says “NEXT GENERATION CAMPRO!”
Then we can have a bash festival again!!! Sigh…
What will Generation 6 do?
