While it’s not exactly a brand-spanking new car by now, further information regarding the 2016 Toyota Avensis facelift have been divulged by the brand. The Euro-market D-segment sedan (wagon pictured below), which premiered at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March, sports a rejuvenated face replete with thinner LED headlights and integrated daytime running lights.
In profile, the car boasts redesigned 17- and 18-inch wheels while the rear end gets chunkier taillights with LED light guides, a sole chrome bar that spans said taillight assemblies and a refreshed rear bumper. On the inside, things are suitably contemporary with the addition of an eight-inch touchscreen system and a twin-tube instrument cluster – a 4.2-inch coloured multi-info display is present on costlier trims.
So while everything on the surface seems fine and dandy, the most significant of upgrades appear to have taken place under the bonnet. While the two petrol mills on offer are merely reworked units, a 1.6 litre with 130 hp/160 Nm and a 1.8 litre with 145 hp/180 Nm, the 2016 Toyota Avensis facelift brings to the table two new BMW-derived diesel engines.
A 1.6 litre D4-D oil-burner replaces the outgoing 2.0 litre unit – said mill produces 110 hp and 270 Nm of twist (torque, lah) from 1,750 to 2,250 rpm. Consumption figures include a 29.3 km/l rating with CO2 emissions recorded at 108 g/km. Next up is a D4-D 2.0 litre diesel engine with 141 hp and 320Nm of torque. It returns a fuel consumption figure of 26.7 km/l while CO2 emissions are marked at 119 g/km.
The entire engine range is now Euro 6 compliant, according to Toyota. Both diesel mills get paired to a six-speed manual transmission while the petrol units are mated to a Multidrive S (MDS) CVT unit. Safety kit on the Avensis include the marque’s Safety Sense platform which includes a pre-collision system, lane departure warning, Road Sign Assist and an automatic high-beam function.

Mental disorders hospital just ware public a patient name Sam LOrrrr have fled.
when does this came to malaysia?
Never. Hyundai tried to bring in their Euro D segment sedan, but stopped doing so.
Those cars for Europe are typically a bit smaller than the gigantic D segment cars that are meant for Malaysia, and usually aimed more at driving pleasure than comfort. More modern too, and more expensive perhaps. Better looking, not as outdated and boxy as the models for Malaysia.
If our new altis has the avensis dashboard then I’m sold. Still cannot get use to the new altis flat, multi segmented designed dashboard.
Altis/Avensis different segment. The Auris is the Altis’ European cousin.
