Ladies and gentlemen, here it is. It’s the Audi Q1 – the smallest crossover ever from Ingolstadt – and it really does look quite cute. It’s seen here with its production body for the first time, having worn a Volkswagen Tiguan suit before.
Slated to make its debut in 2016, it seems to have design cues from the Q3 and has the overall look and feel of the Q5. In terms of proportions, it’s a slightly scaled down version of the Q3. It gets relatively short overhangs, paired with aggressively raked A- and D-pillars, plus a Mercedes-Benz GLA-like low ride height.
It’s believed that although the Q1 may share parts with the current Audi A1, it will not be based on the same platform. The Q1 is likely to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, shared with the next-generation Tiguan.
