VIDEO: Toyota Avanza facelift walk-around tour

We’re back with a new walk-around video, this time of the new Toyota Avanza facelift. While everyone else is busy shooting the latest season of Driven Web Series, you’ll have to watch me, Hafriz Shah, pore over the updated seven-seat compact MPV.

As you’ll find out in the video, the facelifted Avanza looks quite different from before, at least from the front. The biggest difference, however, is under the hood, with the use of brand new Dual VVT-i engines from Toyota’s NR engine family. Yes, it’s the same line that will go into future Perodua models.

The MPV’s equipment list gets bumped up too, including safety features. Unfortunately, prices have gone up as well. You can see the car’s full specifications, options and colour choices on CarBase.my.

Enjoy the video, and sound off your comments below. Thanks for watching.

Preferring to drive cars rather than desks, Hafriz Shah ditched his suit and tie to join the ranks of Malaysia’s motoring hacks. A car’s technical brilliance is completely lost on him, appreciating character-making quirks more. When not writing this ego trip of a bio, he’s usually off driving about aimlessly, preferably in a car with the right combination of three foot pedals and six gears.

    Avanza, the New 5 seater:
2 extra seat = 50:50 split decorative seat @ car boot.
There was improvement made for 2012..

    1. FC: New Avanza, another 15% improvement, with Dual VVt-i engine. More Torque @ 200 lower rpm.
    2. Noise: New Avanza, another 19% reduction, with improvement from the drive shaft, to the engine, to sound absorbing material at hood and dashboard.

    3. It uses Unibody Chasis, since 2012. now, further Strengthened. Ladder frame Chasis, it was in the 2004 model.

    4. Stability and handling:
Improved with thicker strut bar, improved absorber, and strengthening of chasis.Good and Comfort ride as 5 seater, with sitting tall position.

Must say this is a very practical 5 seater Avanza.
2 seat behind is just a bonus, like Xtrail SUV.

more importantly, look at this link:

Both Stability Control and Traction Control. Secretly built in Avanza 2015 Facelift, do observe the meterboard.
Awaiting to be announced, after Vios is facelifted with new engine and better safety.

Why should i buy this junk from uncle sam while i can get more spacious exora?! Oh ya the RV thing…

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 1
    • Correct, Better we buy Proton Preve instead of Japanese C-Segment.

      Exora is 8km/L
      Avanza dual vvt-i is 13km/L.

the enhanced engine is the selling point for this mpv
other than that nothing is appealing.
