Volvo has just announced that the latest version of its Polestar Performance Optimisation package is now available for the Volvo S60, V60 and XC60 T6 AWD models. Previously, the power upgrade made for Drive-E T6 AWD vehicles was only available for the range-topping XC90.
The company says that its latest optimisation package focuses on the entire powertrain, rather than just the engine, as it was in the past. The improvements are now made to increase mid-range engine performance, speed-up gear shifts, improve throttle response, and sharpen shift timing and off-throttle functionality.
Polestar spokesman Johan Meissner explained to Autoblog that the optimisation isn’t about increasing peak power or acceleration times. “It is about improving drivability overall in everyday situations by including the entire powertrain in the optimisation, compared to the previous generation which was for the engine only,” he told the publication.
As standard, Volvo vehicles equipped with the 2.0 litre Drive-E T6 engine have 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque, but the Swedish car maker hasn’t revealed what the Polestar tuning will add.
It’s important to note that the Polestar enhancements do not affect existing Volvo warranties – making it a great way to draw out more performance from your everyday vehicles without compromising your warranty.
Locally, Volvo Car Malaysia offers Polestar Performance Optimisation for the Volvo V40, S60 and V60 T4 variants – priced at RM5,944. Further Polestar hardware upgrades are also expected to be available some time in the first half of 2016, including Polestar-branded high performance suspension parts, exhaust systems, bodykits and several interior enhancements.
