The covers have been pulled off the SEAT Ateca X-Perience concept, which will make its world premiere at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Does the X-Perience moniker sound familiar? That’s because the Spanish brand revealed the Leon X-Perience in 2014 – this vehicle joins the latter in the company’s range of more rugged-looking vehicles with all-wheel drive.
The Ateca is already a fairly butch-looking vehicle, but the X-Perience model beefs it up even further with new skid plates front and rear, some silver trim around the lower front grille and side mouldings, chrome roof rails, a tailgate spoiler, mudflaps and unique 18-inch alloy wheels shod with high-profile tyres. The olive green matte paint with orange highlights finish off the look that’s a little reminiscent of the Proton Iriz Active.
The colour scheme extends inside, with brown and green suede leather upholstery adorned with orange stitching. The X-Perience logo appears on the steering wheel and aluminium side sill plates, while the boot floor features a chrome strip like the Leon X-Perience. There are protective rubber floor mats, too.
Under the bonnet sits a 2.0 litre TDI turbodiesel engine that outputs 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque, sent through a Haldex all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. As with the standard Ateca, the X-Perience gets an XDS brake-operated differential lock, a 4Drive traction system and hill descent control.
