The Volkswagen Group delivered over one million vehicles to customers in September, the best monthly performance in the history of the company. The 1,010,100 units delivered last month is 6.6% up year-on-year.

“This record result demonstrates the strength of the Volkswagen Group. Vehicles from our brands are thrilling more and more customers worldwide – our new SUVs in particular are very popular. China continues to play an important role in this respect,” said Fred Kappler, head of group sales.

In the world’s largest auto market, the VW Group sold 406,500 vehicles (+6.3%) as Chinese customers flocked to new models such as the Terramont and Tiguan SUVs from Volkswagen, the Audi A4L and the Skoda Kodiaq, another SUV. Powered by China, the group’s Asia Pacific sales went up by 6.1% y-o-y to 436,700 units.

The volume may not be as big, but the group’s North America performance was great. Combined, it handed over 85,900 vehicles, a rise of 13.5% y-o-y. In the US, where Dieselgate was first uncovered, VW’s Atlas and Tiguan SUVs boosted sales by 21.8%. The group also reported a jump in South America, up 68.4% to 47,800 vehicles. Brazil (+110.5%) and Argentina led the charge.

Closer to home, 404,500 vehicles (+1.5%) were handed over to customers in Europe in September. Central and Eastern Europe continued its upward trend, with deliveries running at 63,400 vehicles, an increase of 13.8%. While deliveries in Germany were slightly down (-3.3%), the overall trend in Western Europe remained stable (-0.5%) on the back of increases in Spain and Italy.

At 7,806,600 vehicles, VW Group deliveries have risen by 2.6% since the beginning of the year. No damage from Dieselgate? Well, the VW Group sold a record 10.3 million vehicles last year, shrugging off any impact of the emissions cheating scandal that surfaced in 2015. If the trend continues, 2017 will be another record year for the German giant.

Volkswagen is amazing. Any other car company that spend US$30billion on damage recovery will surely go bankrupt, including Toyota or Ford. How VW turned around its operations should be a success book by itself.

Why VW still delivers over 1 million units in September alone ?? Judging by the numbers of bashers/complaints who talk about Diesel-gate/DSG-gate, VW should be going bankrupt by now.

How did VW overcome the problems will be a success story every car manufacturer yearning to know/emulate.
