Renault has added a new limited edition S-Edition variant to the Captur range in Europe. Interestingly, this limited edition isn’t just kitted up with fancy trim, it actually has a new, more powerful engine under the hood.
Available with six-speed manual and Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmissions, the new 1.4 litre turbocharged TCe 150 engine produces 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque, considerably more than the previous range-topping 120 hp/205 Nm 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine.
Thanks to the additional grunt, the zero-to-100 km/h sprint is now achieved in 8.2 seconds (9.2 seconds for the EDC-equipped model), down from the TCe 120’s 9.9 seconds (10.6 seconds with the EDC).
Other than the engine, the S-Edition also gets an exclusive Iron Blue exterior finish combined with an Etoilé Black or Platine Grey roof. If you don’t like it you can choose from a combination of eight different two-tone finish combinations. Other exterior equipment includes black 17-inch Filante diamond-cut alloy wheels, Gun Metal Grey door protection inserts and skid plates as well as S-Edition badging.
On the inside, the Captur S-Edition features Alcantara/simile leather upholstery with blue top stitching which is carried over to the arm rest, gear lever bellows and parking brake. The R-Link Evolution infotainment system, front, side and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, Easy Park Assist and Blind Sport Warning are available as optional extras.
The Malaysian-spec Captur is currently available with the 1.2 litre TCe 120 engine. Would an upgrade to the 1.4 litre TCe 150 engine make it more appealing to you? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Now a proper limited edition with more firepower. Question is would this engine be made available as standard since this model is only available for a limited time?
Not by TC Eurocars.
I am sure ETCM and TC Eurocars will bring this in. they work hard. They don’t goyang kaki in office relaxing and always wanting bantuan.
“As such, based on data from analyst reports, the company is expected to maintain its current Malaysian total industry volume (TIV) market share of about five percent (it was seven percent in 2016). Sales for Tan Chong’s local group operations in the financial year 2017 went down by 32% from the previous year, to 28,640 units.
Individually, Nissan sales declined to 27,154 units (-33%), UD Trucks to 865 units (-11%), Renault to 592 units (-1%) and Infiniti to 29 units (-75%).”

Based on that logic, P1 must be doing great job.
nice car but as usual the price will be high until no one buy. then it will fall like the current model. and is the steering wheel really that big?
30 hp translated into just 0.8 seconds faster? Should at least be between 1-1.5 seconds faster.
But I like the make over. Classy.
Oh, an article by the bossman himself. Thats kinda rare but nice.
The bulging wheel arches are so nice which looks like the super beautiful BMW M2

This is an alternative to the Japanese HRV. If U are the type who do not want to conform to a certain dogma, drive this & it will be a standout in the parking lot especially with the funky colors available.
With the additional power especially 150 hp/250 Nm of torque, this cute looking SUV will be able to hold its own with its equivalent. The price will always be the point of contention.
Maybe an extra RM10k will not make the current older owner loosing sleep over it while it will give new buyers a good alternative to the main stream Japanese. I’ve test drive the older model B4 & it seems not too shabby in terms of power & built quality.
