Toll rates for 8 concessionaires are expected to go up by about 10% on the January 1st 2008 according to agreements between the toll concessionaires and the government.
However Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu says the government is looking into the possibility of spreading this cost between the government, the toll concessionaires and the people so that the 10% can be subsidised and reduced to a lower amount.
The report from The Star did not say which highways these were, but a previous article on the toll hike that happened on January 1st 2007 mentioned the following 8 highways will have their toll rates up for review in 2008:
North South Highway (Plus)
Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway
North South Expressway Central Link (Elite)
Seremban-Port Dickson Highway
New North Klang Straits Bypass (Shahpadu)
Malaysia-Singapore Second Link
Butterworth-Kulim Expressway
Penang Bridge.
