The Volkswagen Scirocco will only be on sale in Europe this summer. The car uses the Golf GTI’s chassis and thus shares the same wheelbase, but has a wider track thanks to components lifted from the Volkswagen Passat CC.
The 2.0 litre TFSI model is not the EA113 we have grown to love installed in cars such as the B7 Audi A4, the second generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen Golf GTI, despite having the same bore. It is actually a new engine family with an EA888 codename. Word is that new batches of the above cars all have the new EA888 engine instead of the older EA113. One way of identifying it is a chain drive instead of a belt drive. The new EA888 engine is also much more boost friendly as the block is more hardy.

Nice….hope they will sell this in Malaysia next year
VW answer to Zoom zoom.
Lovely i always prefer to have VW.. but in Malaysia very EXPENSIVE!!…
Hmm…. because of the thin grille, the new Scirocco at a glance look reminiscence of the new Lancer. At the back, the more I look at it, the more it looks like a ‘glorified’ old Satria. Maybe because of the ‘coupe-hatch’ design (ala Alfa Brera) rather than a real ‘coupe’ profile like the original Scirocco or the legendary Corrado that’s making it look not so right the first time.
Anyway, still not a bad design, just that not enough to make it even more desirable. Still, it could look better in the metal as some cars do!
In the meantime, I’d stick to a Golf GTI Mk V. Discreet design, excellent all round performance. How nice if the Govt start reducing the taxes to real world level…..
The video is squash. I think its suppose to have a wider track look
VW Golf is cool, this is extra COOL !!!
The rear of the car looks like the previous honda Civic 3 door, or the infamous “kereta mayat”.
Sell in Europe this summer? Summer 2008 is already here in Europe. Nice sound from that engine.
The front have kinda weird looking. I still prefer the old golf!
love their design.. it looks great from front portion.
design takes a while to get used to, though i love the side profile alot.
i’d still take the Mk 5 gti though, proven. just waiting for the right time.
and lottery to strike! lol.
hmm i actually prefer the GTi MK5 VW emblem placement on grill rather than this scirocco emblem on hood
