The Volvo SC90 concept was panned by Nouphone J. Bansasine during his internship at Volvo in Summer 2007, and it was essentially a Volvo entry into the fray of “4-door coupes” being launched one after another by nearly all car manufacturers who ever use the word luxury in any of their marketing material.
In the designer’s imaginary world, the SC90 concept would go into production by the year 2015 against the Aston Martin Rapide and the Porsche Panamera, and according to current Volvo nomenclature it would most likely be called the Volvo C90. Perhaps it’s because it would probably take that long for anyone to find a Volvo entry in THAT segment sexy enough to purchase – 4-door coupes aren’t as practical as sedans and are usually a purely emotional choice.
Have a look at a photo gallery of the concept after the jump.

Nicely penned but abit unoriginal.
If you looked properly, the front bonnet line mimics RX8, the headlamps Mistubishi’s RA concept, the b-pillar to rear lines similiar to the Z series cars, the taillamps LF-A inspired, and lastly, isn’t the grille similiar to the Scirocco when it was still in concept form in 2007?
awesome design by volvo
But what about its powerplant? Borrowed from a mustang or the GT4? Well, at least some technologies transfer from the time it was under the Ford wings.
Hopefully it will not follow korea’s car makers which have plenty of imagination but somehow lack of technologies in the power plant and tranny departments.
Anyways, the above is a great departure from the boxy design Volvo is so used to, and somehow quite handsome.
volvo also wanted a piece of the cake
Mr Bansasine will be Volvo’s Chief Designer pretty soon…
OI! apa ni tiru mazda sini sana??

VERY COOL & NOTHING WRONG, just some effort to get their ass into the flowing trend……

i dont think theres ever such a thing as truely 100% original design anymore. everything is inspired from something that came before it, in whatever form. only nature is truely 100% original, which inspires many designers, car guys included.
Cire said,”But what about its powerplant? Borrowed from a mustang or the GT4? Word up~~
Front reminiscent of EVOX? And a splash of mazda lines?
Volvo really does goes off course and gone to the japanese repair booth.

think carefully??speak for yourself….neverthar is quite right..the front facia + fender is a tad similar to mazda’s current design, check the a-pillar+ seamless roof ,an exact cut and paste job from the kabura concept.i agree with BMW too…any untrained eye can see it nowadays.this is just proof.it all comes doen to who started it……
volvo was cool …last time especially with the low boxy estates….now its got an identity crisis…
Please correct me if I’m wrong. Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars are 2 separate entities now. One has nothing to do with another other than sharing trademark. So, it has nothing to do with the engine or tranny dev between the 2 companies. Yes, Volvo T5 is sweet but now that they are under Ford, anything can happen. But again, I personally think that Ford will leave Volvo alone to decide on its car engine.
Owh.. did Paul just mentioned that this is just Concept? Err.. 2015? It might go into production.. if and only if Ford is not bankrupt or Volvo is not sold to let say Ah Beng Motors. However, I believe IF Volvo is going to be sold to SAIC or TATA, the concept will live on.
p/s: there are a lot of buts and ifs there.. ;)

so what youre saying is….you like what proton has done??
Super sexy. Can't wait to buy one. I wonder how much it would cost. Another sexy concept car vovo is going to put out is the s60 concept. It will come out in 2010 and will get 47 mpg… Or more. It looks really sexy. Check it out!
Perfect, which is why the production version won’t look anything like this. Car manufacturers don’t have the balls or the luxury of making cars that are truly unique, they have to make crap for the masses.. retarded people who get easily mesmerized by headlights that look like christmas trees, or wheels that look like optical illusions.
If Volvo DOES come up with a car that looks like this, I’ll call myself Sussy for a year.
