Two new Volkswagen sedans that have not been launched in this country was snapped by reader AbuHafsah in Port Dickson. The car you see above in the rear view mirror appears to be the new Volkswagen Passat sedan (not the Passat CC), which is slated to be offered here in Malaysia in CKD form.
From the looks of the rear end, this is the European market Volkswagen Passat as the US market Passat has the number plate on the boot lid instead of on the bumper.
The other car accompanying the Passat on test is a white Volkswagen Polo Sedan, also known as the Volkswagen Vento in certain markets.
The roofline and body shape isn’t too bad at all for a hatchback converted into a sedan, thanks to a lengthening of the wheelbase by 50mm.

Comments on the Volkswagen Polo Sedan and Passat Sedan highlight a range of opinions. Many express excitement for the models, especially the Polo Sedan, seeing it as a good alternative to Japanese hatchbacks and sedans like City and Vios if priced around RM70-90k. Some are concerned about the design, comparing the Polo's rear to Vios and expressing disappointment with Passat's appearance. There are discussions about pricing, with hopes that CKD versions will be affordable and competitive, possibly below RM90k for Polo and RM170k for Passat, which would challenge Japanese rivals. Several comments mention the engine options, expecting the Polo to come with a 1.6L engine lacking TSI, and some worry about perceived quality and support. Overall, sentiments are cautiously optimistic, emphasizing competitive pricing, build quality, and proper support to succeed in the Malaysian market.
