It looks like it’s going to be a busy year again for the Peugeot RCZ on the racing front. Racing under the Team Peugeot RCZ Nokia umbrella, the car is set to take part in the entire 10-round VLN 2011 championship as well as in the legendary 24 Hours of Nurburgring in the D1T category, the second year it will make an appearance in the race.
Things have gotten off to a good start – in the opening round of the VLN endurance racing series at the Nurburgring earlier this month, the team’s RCZ 2.0 HDi FAP, driven by Stephane Caillet, Michael Bohrer and Jurgen Nett finished second in the diesel-powered car class.
The VLN, which stands for Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nurburgring (Association of Nurburgring Endurance Cup Organisers), is made up of a total of eight four-hour races and two six-hour ones.
The 24-hour Nurburgring race, which will be held on June 25-26, is not part of the event, but almost all the competing teams see it as a ‘must-do’ event, given its endurance orientation. In 2010, the Peugeot RCZ finished first and third in class in the 24-hour endurance race.
Closer to home, there’s no racing involved, but we hear the RCZ is set to make its local debut quite soon!
