BMW 3-Series GT – images leaked ahead of Geneva

bmw-3gt-leaked-7

Ah, here we go with leaky stuff once again. The first official photos of the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo have surfaced on a French car forum. The Geneva debutant is set to follow the path set by its larger F07 5-Series GT sibling and add a ‘hatchback’ form to the 3er lineup.

The images are of a M-Sport (the car below) and a baseline variant (the car above – notice the basic wheels and reflector headlamps?). In addition, we’ve also seen how the Modern Line looks like in the spyshots of the car that came about last month. There should be a Luxury Line as well.

As mentioned previously, the 3-Series GT is likely going to have a longer wheelbase than the regular 3-Series Sedan/Touring model, probably something like the long-wheelbase 3-Series that’s on sale in China.

Design cues will include a bimodal rear hatch, like that seen on the 5 GT. No word on tech specs and accompanying powertrains, but the last shouldn’t veer from that available on the F30. More when Geneva comes, of course.

This car is will be about US$30,000. But when sold here, like the old 5 series GT, it will be over RM500,000.

Tax and duties maximum is 130%. You do your own calculations how much BMW Malaysia is making of each car sold. Their margins are the highest in the world of any car dealerships worldwide. But they tell customers tax are high and blame it on the government.

Anti Geneva : It is ponzi. Good thing BNM stop from spreading. Helping rakyat.
Pro Geneva : Bank jealous because a lot of FD withdrawn. Called BNM to raid to stop it.
My opinion : Preve is still a better car

Preve is the culprit behind Geneva. If everyone can earn easily from geneva, no one will buy preve. P1 then will tutup kedai. Good for rakyat.

No surprised here, the final product is in line with the dozen or so renders speculators have come up with base on the test mule. I do think that front fender trim (first seen on the 4 series concept) is a little chintzy and I think the 3GT doesn’t have the 5GT’s split hatch. Overall the car does look better than the 5GT. I’d buy it.

While Merc is coming out with ‘younger’ looked cars, BeeM does the contrary. Maybe Beemer fans are getting older, with less younger recruits. But hey, they’re still on top of their category!
