Minerva J.M. Brabazon – new plug-in hybrid supercar

Here’s an unexpected one for you: a brand new plug-in hybrid, all-carbonfibre, twin-turbocharged V12 supercar called the Minerva J.M. Brabazon. The what now? It’s okay, we’ve never heard of it either.

Apparently Minerva used to be a Belgian automaker in the early 20th Century, before going under in 1956. Now the company is rising from the ashes to debut its first vehicle in more than 50 years, and it’s an ambitious one.

The J.M. Brabazon (named after a famous British racing driver – nope, never heard of him either) is said to be capable of 400 km/h, using a mid-mounted petrol-electric powertrain with plug-in hybrid capabilities to boot.

Electric motors will power the front wheels while a great big V12 with two turbochargers handle the rear tyres through an F1-style six-speed sequential gearbox. Minerva says its power-to-weight ratio will be close to 1:1. We say prove it.
