SPYSHOTS: Renault Megane IV seen winter-testing

Spy-Shots of Cars

The third generation Renault Megane has been around since late 2008. Last updated with a mid-life facelift in 2012, it should see a replacement soon. Today we can show you how the next generation Megane will look like, as it’s been caught cold by our spy photographers in the snow.

This prototype has the now familiar new Renault family nose up front. We can’t be 100% sure but in general it looks like the Kadjar C-segment crossover scaled down to fit a C-segment hatchback. Word is that the production “Megane IV” could be unveiled at the Paris show this year.

  • I have a feeling that the RS model will have around 300 bhp

Finally..a practical 5 door concept..hopefully comes with dual clutch auto which is convenient..where the old model doesnt sell well due to 3 door n also just manual

The Megane was always available as a 5 door hatchback. The first generation was available as a 3 door (Coupe) and 5 door hatchback, plus 4 door sedan, 5 door wagon and 2 door cabriolet. The second generation was the same, though the 3 door dropped the Coupe badge IIRC. The third generation dropped the sedan, but all the other variants remained. And really, they just renamed the sedan to Fluence, it’s still a Megane. Also, all Meganes were available with an auto gearbox, IIRC the last generation used CVT.

What you are thinking of is the Megane RS… and I think that will remain a 3 door hatchback… unless they stop making those. But I hope not, the car that was spied looks very sensible, not sporty enough. As for automatic gearboxes… the Clio RS received one, and received a lot of hate and complaints for that. Hopefully they will offer the next Megane RS as a manual again, because it really needs to have that in order to sell overseas.

The only why everybody hates the Clio IV RS is because of its sluggish EDC trans. Should they improve it or replace with a new lightning fast dual clutch auto, it will regain back its title from the Fiesta ST. Anyway, you can’t go wrong with dual clutch.

I think the earliest year Megane RS appear in our shores will be in 2017. Please retain the manual transmission as it is one of the major reasons we buy it instead of Golf gti. Improve the interior quality up a few notches please as what Renault have done to the new Espace and last but no least we want 275-300bhp haha.

No bloody way haha. There has never been RS in 4 door version. 2015 is too premature :-)
