Mitsubishi Outlander facelift teased, NY 2015 debut

Mitsubishi Outlander facelift teaser

We’ve known that the facelifted Mitsubishi Outlander is coming for a while now – first came the Outlander PHEV Concept-S at the Paris Motor Show last October, which at the time was said to preview a “special design package” for the production car, then we saw various spyshots of the refreshed Japanese SUV, including some without camouflage.

Now we know it’s officially coming – Mitsubishi has sent out a teaser image ahead of the updated Outlander’s Big Apple debut, showing the new front clip. As we have expected (and seen), it’s a fairly faithful recreation of the Concept-S’ face, with reshaped headlights, a larger grille and distinctive chrome highlights that curve around the headlights, run down the bumper and wrap around the fog lights.

The aforementioned spyshots of undisguised units show new, wider red-tinged (previously clear) tail lights, a redesigned rear valence, silver scuff plates, silver side mouldings, new alloy wheel designs and yet more conspicuous chrome trim across the tailgate.

Along with the revamped exterior, the facelifted Mitsubishi Outlander is also expected to feature improved interior layout and materials, as well as an updated PHEV model that is set to improve on the current car‘s 800+ km range. We will know more about the new car after the press conference at the 2015 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) on April 2.
