Back in November 2014, we brought you spyshots of the upcoming Mitsubishi Outlander facelift with the prototype decked out in camouflage and all. Now, Minkara has published several photos of the refreshed, third-generation crossover sitting at a Japanese port sans camouflage.
Due to be unveiled at the upcoming 2015 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in April, the Mitsubishi Outlander facelift sports a revised front with a more aggressive outlook thanks to the inclusion of stylised chrome highlights that flow along the head lamp assembly before melding across the grille in an arch.
Unfortunately, an obstructed view of the front means that’s the only key detail change we can spot as far as the front revisions go – which is reminiscent of the face found on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S, itself designed to preview a “special design package” for the production Outlander PHEV of the time.
The rear employs a fair bit of the shiny stuff as well with a single piece of chrome dividing the tail lamps. On the subject of rear lamps, the assembly now has been revamped to feature red graphics – a radical departure from the ones featured on the aforementioned concept, which was displayed with a large, one-piece element.
Elsewhere, the restyled rear bumper now features a contrasting silver accent for a sportier, diffuser-like look. The rear fog lights have also been incorporated into the rear bumper assembly on the facelifted version. Profile wise, new alloy wheel designs and more chrome are featured.
While no shots of the interior were bagged, one can expect an updated layout with improved materials. In terms of powertrain enhancements, the facelifted Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is expected to arrive with an updated hybrid system that builds on the current model’s operational range of 800+ km.
