Suzuki Swift facelift found on oto.my – RM63k-RM73k?

Suzuki Swift facelift oto ad

The facelifted Suzuki Swift was revealed to the world almost exactly two years ago, and it looks like it’s finally about to reach our shores. We’ve spotted an ad for the revamped B-segment hatch on our sister classifieds site oto.my, indicating that a launch is imminent.

There are, in fact, two listings, both by the same seller – the first quotes RM63,388 for the base 1.4 GL, while the other has the top-end GLX pegged at RM73,388. If these are indicative of final retail prices, this means that the facelifted GLX will be cheaper by the tune of RM300, while the GL will have its price cut a handy RM2,400.

From what we can see from the pictures provided, it looks like the spec list will even get an upgrade – the GL appears to get the GLX’s old 16-inch alloy wheels (as opposed to the steel 15’s with caps it had previously) and higher-spec head unit, while the GLX now nets natty new five-twin-spoke alloys, LED daytime running lights and a touchscreen navigation system.

Changes are mild on the facelifted Swift, amounting only to a reprofiled front bumper, LED centre brake light and seat fabric pattern. No announced updates for the 1.4 litre VVT four-pot either, so it should retain its 95 PS/130 Nm output, sent through the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

    Suzuki is dead in Malaysia.

Unlike the old Swift which had good value at the time, this one doesn’t even have ESP as an option! To think that Honda and Ford and even Mazda’s B segment hatches all have it… It is such a pity cause the new Swift is not a bad car.

If you want Swift, better go to grey imports and ask for UK-spec Swift Sport for around RM90k. You got 8 airbags, TCS, VSC, LSD, satnav, DVD player, M16A engine (136 hp / 182 Nm) and anything else you can’t get from Malaysian spec Swift. Available in 6-speed manual, or add RM1500 to have CVT Sport with 7-speed manual mode.

    Get an Elantra instead.

You need to help Sam prime the used kimchi market
