eSerahan Tukar Milik electronic vehicle ownership transfer system awaiting Finance Ministry approval

In the future, one will not need to physically be at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) office when buying a used car or selling a car. According to The Star, the eSerahan Tukar Milik (eSTM) electronic vehicle ownership transfer system is ready, and is just waiting for approval from the Finance Ministry.

“Used car sellers and buyers need only be present at the second hand car dealers to complete their ownership transfer procedures,” Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said at the Penang and Province Wellesley Used Cars Autocycles Dealers and Motor Financiers Association’s 44th anniversary dinner on Saturday.

“The eSTM is an extension of the current temporary transfer system, known as the Tukar Milik Sementara, which uses the biometric features of the MyKad and thumbprint verification of the sellers as well as buyers.

“The biometric identification system makes the transfer of vehicle ownership simple and safer. It has been fully developed and it is in the final stages before implementation,” Liow said, adding that the approval should be given soon.

The eSTM, when in operation this year, should be a boon for busy city dwellers who have to transfer ownership of a vehicle, as JPJ offices are often crowded. No need for a runner, too.

    Something not right.

How will all the samseng JPJ now earn a living from the runners? Since now if using electronic transfer no need runners right?

    Really ah?

Wonder when they will do away with the equally time wasting and non-value added Puspakom. Another crony money making scheme.

this is BS. so many dealers refuse to even do temporary ownership transfer. the damn system and law must be revamped to allow owners to relinquish vehicle ownership once it is sold to the dealers. eSTM does not solve the problem of dealers not completing transfer of ownership after selling off a vehicle. they only care about the money they make.
