VW Beetle Club Edition launched – 50 units, RM153k

VW Beetle Club Malaysia launch 1

Volkswagen Malaysia officially launched the VW Beetle Club Edition at its Glenmarie showroom this evening. Priced at RM153,620 OTR without insurance, the Mexican made Beetle Club is limited to 50 units. It was previewed at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week last week.

No mechanical changes on this Bug, which means under that curved hood lies a 1.2 litre TSI engine with 105 PS and 175 Nm of torque from 1,550 to 4,100 rpm. The turbocharged direct-injection four-pot is mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. The benchmark 0-100 km/h sprint is despatched in 10.9 seconds on to a top speed of 180 km/h.

Based on the top 1.2 TSI Sport with Luxury pack (bi-xenons, DRLs, Vienna leather), the Beetle Club Edition comes in the distinctive Habanero Orange Metallic paint with side mirrors in black.

Paint aside, it also stands out from regular Bugs with 17-inch “Ravenna” multi-spoke alloys in Sterling Silver with 215/55 rubber. One also gets side sills with a chrome strip and a decorative sticker above it with “Club” lettering.

Inside, the Club Edition gets a matching black and Calypso Orange theme for the leather sport seats, with the bright colour also appearing as stitching on the armrest, gear lever boot, hand brake and steering wheel. The latter also gets a “Club” insignia on the bottom spoke. Also applied is a “Twist Wave Dark” cubic film over the dash and centre console for a faux carbon look. The touchscreen head unit is a Composition Media system.

The previous special edition Beetle was the Bug Edition announced in April. That 200-unit variant was cheaper, but less well equipped than the Club.

Should give the rear spoiler together with the body-kits too.

    • Free Tow Service? on Aug 19, 2015 at 9:54 am

Better for VW to give 10 year warranty plus free towing service for the next 10 years. At least 5 to 6 times a year free preferred.

Years ago VW owners very arrogant. Look down on Japs. They come here and make fun of Jap owners saying we cannot afford VW cars. They term us as poor.

Then DSG issues hot them and hit them until even today. SC is full of DSG breakdown cars. That is why they take weeks to give you appt.

Now, VW owners hide their face. At traffic lights, no more rev engine and want to race. they know people are laughing at them at how stupid one can be paying so much for a car that non stop break downs. Not once, not twice but continuous. Even when DSG is changed also, the car still breaks down.

Performance! Is no surprise that you also find dual-clutch applied in extraordinary vehicles like BMW’s M-series, Merz’s SLS, Audi’s S-tronic, Lambo Huracan, Evo X, Nissan GTR, Megane etc.

Trade-off! The dual-clutch requires care and maintenance as the clutches are engaged all the time. So the more you travel, the faster it wore out.

Worthiness? Compare your wallet and driving pleasure.

  • Increase price but no mechanical change?

Why not giving this club edition during release?

Why it is so expensive yet the reliability is sub-par?

    What is VW Malaysia thinking?

Don’t know why people buy so called German engineering when it is going to give you headache after headache. I rather add a bit more and get a BMW F10 2nd hand. A good 2013 BMW 520i now being sold for RM175k. I might as well get a real German car with true status in life than a katak shape car that people laugh at me.

First it was DSG. VW AG and VGM denied for years and years. then one day, VW AG, due to so many law suits in the US and China, had to come clean. They admitted that DSG cannot be used in hot countries like Malaysia and where there is heavy traffic jam. But until today, VGM Malaysia still deny there is a problem and continue to sell lemons to Malaysians.

then few days ago, VW AG admitted that for 2 years they concealed a serious security defect on its cars that was so so so so so so so so serious.

      Now, the Takata airbag scandal

Why would anyone pay RM153k for a car that comes from a car company filled with lies and scandals? One day, you die also because of a defect, they will deny and deny and deny and deny and your wife and family will never get a sen of compensation.

Until today, 2015 August, VW AG in Germany has not given the go ahead that DSG can be used in hot countries in Malaysia despite mineral oil being used.

Scandal after Scandal, what for buy a car that half your life got to go SC to sort out problems, the other half, you are waiting for the tow truck in the hot son to come.

And within a year, you are inviting the tow truck driver for your son’s birthday party because both you and the tow truck have become good buddies.

I bet is the few salesmen BS again, too free and no sales. Doing their finger exercise of copy-n-paste in their showroom.
