The upcoming Audi Q6 is set to be previewed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of the Audi e-tron quattro concept. Here are the first official sketches of the concept.
We’ve already had a preview of the exterior thanks to leaked sketches a few weeks ago but this time we have a look at the interior which features extensive use of OLED technology for the user interface.
The front display, which is curved upward, offers some gesture controls and visualizes the climate control system. The two rear passengers in the Audi e-tron quattro concept have their own OLED displays.
The operating and display concept is deeply integrated into the plastic, driver-oriented architecture of the cockpit. Because the electric drive has no propshaft, the center console seems to float.
According to Audi, the new SUV measures between the Q5 and Q7 in term of length. The concept seats four. Drive goes to both axles thanks to one electric motor on the front axle and two on the rear axle.
Audi previously revealed that the new electric SUV will have an electric range of over 500 km thanks to batteries from South Korean suppliers LG Chem and Samsung SDI.
The lithium ion battery pack is positioned between the axles below the passenger compartment, giving the SUV a low centre of gravity and a balnaced axle load distribution.
The electric SUV will go head to head against the upcoming Tesla Model X.
