Here’s some juicy details from Subaru in terms of its upcoming products. According to Automotive News, Subaru will switch to a new global architecture that will debut on next year’s 2017 Impreza hatchback and sedan. This new architecture will form the foundation for all future redesigns and a new full-size crossover.
There are also plans to offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain in 2018 on an existing vehicle in the current range. As far as new models are concerned, a seven-seat crossover is said to be planned for 2017.
For the BRZ, Subaru will skip a facelift version of the car, but it will instead upgrade the entertainment features of the 2016 model that goes on sale later this year. Subaru executives have told the publication that a second generation of the car will be unveiled in 2018.
Interestingly, there is also speculation regarding the dropping of the XV name as for the XV Crosstrek once it gets a facelift. This might be a US-only thing though as there are markets like Malaysia where XV is the main brand being marketed.
