Tokyo 2015: Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo

Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo 5

In the weeks leading up to the 44th Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan revealed an updated version of its Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, sporting a fresh coat of “Fire Knight” red paint.

The concept originally made its virtual debut in the racing video game, Gran Turismo 6, and later made its transition into the real-world at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This time, we’ve spotted the fiery red concept at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show, and here are the live photos.

In the metal, the Concept 2020 is still very striking with interesting design cues noted throughout the car. Sharp angles and generous use of carbon-fibre appear throughout the concept that appears to resemble more of a race car than a road car.

However, do not simply brush off the car as just another concept. The design you see here is the work of Nissan’s European design studios, with the assistance of engineers from the Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan, and is said to preview the next-generation Nissan GT-R (R36).

In following the current design language of Nissan models, the signature V-motion grille is located and front and centre. A few GT-R elements also make an appearance here with the twin bonnet vents, large rear wing, and the iconic quad round taillights.

Even the headlights appear to be thinner versions of the current GT-R’s design. Rounding things off is cockpit-like wraparound windscreen and a larger rear diffuser section.

Does the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo look better in the metal? More importantly, would you like the next-generation Nissan GT-R to look like this? Let us know in the comments section below.
