2016 Honda Civic rendered with a “simpler” face

So while the 2016 Honda Civic is still pretty much as fresh as a daisy – having only had its full tech specs revealed not too long ago – rendering whiz, Theophilus Chin, has already decided to plaster on a new face for it. His reason? According to the caption that accompanied this particular rendering, Theo stated that he prefers car with “simpler designs” and that he found the new one a tad too fussy.

At first glance, the changes applied may seem pretty minute but the before-and-after video clearly shows that, at least in terms of styling, a little can go a long way. The original car featured a broad, single-piece chrome bar that housed the Honda badge and seemed to span the entire width of the front fascia while the rendered Civic shows a lot less chrome.

In fact, one might even be able to pick out hints of the outgoing ninth-generation Honda Civic in the rendered image. To recap, the latest Civic is hotly rumoured to be a leader in its class as Honda engineers claim the car was benchmarked against “luxury compact class vehicles” too – BMW 3 Series, anyone?

Under the bonnet, the 2016 Honda Civic is set to feature two new Earth Dreams engines – a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated DOHC motor and a downsized 1.5 litre turbocharged unit. The former puts out a respectable 158 hp at 6,500 rpm and 187 Nm at 4,200 rpm while the turbocharged mill pumps out 174 hp at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm.

A CVT gearbox and a six-speed manual is offered – the latter only with the 2.0 litre, NA engine. In Europe, however, things are a little bit different. The new Euro-spec Civic will come powered by a choice of two turbocharged engines – 1.0 litre three-cylinder VTEC unit and the aforementioned 1.5 litre turbo’ed mill. The 1.0 litre engine produces a total of 127 hp and 200 Nm of torque.

Honda Civic With a Different Front Design

I've always preferred simpler designs for cars. Here I try to "improve" the new Honda Civic's front design that I personally find busy and unnecessary. What do you think of my version of the Civic's front? View this 'before and after' clip so see what I've done.

Good Job Theo! In my honest opinion, the 2016 Civic’s face is not that complicated but your rendering suits the Civic’s face better than the original face.Theo, it would be fantastic if you render the 2016 Civic with smaller taillights.By the way, doesn’t this Civic’s 2.0 engine develops 190 NM of torque instead of 187 NM?
