The Hyundai Elantra has been given a new ad that involves a meteor shower, a crashing space shuttle and three astronauts. The video is called “Extreme Boldness” and showcases the sixth-generation Elantra, along with some of its capabilities and features. It’s well worth the watch, given the absurdness of it all.
To recap, the Elantra is now lighter and more rigid than its predecessor, which contributes to better NVH levels and handling. It also gets a host of new safety tech too, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane change assist and lane keep assist. This, along with electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, traction control, ABS and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Currently, the US market gets just one variant of the Elantra, which uses a 147 hp 2.0 litre four-pot MPI petrol engine. A new 128 hp/211 Nm turbocharged 1.4 litre Kappa GDI four-cylinder mill will soon be available, while a high performance Elantra Sport version with up to 200 hp is slated for a November debut.
