Haval H2 SUV launching next month – under RM100k

Haval H2 1

For those who are awaiting the arrival of the Haval H2, we now have a better approximation of the C-segment SUV’s arrival in Malaysia. According to Haval Malaysia, the H2 will debut towards the end of May 2016. How much? It will be priced under the RM100,000 mark.

As previously reported, the H2 will be offered in a sole 1.5T 2WD Dignity guise, which was put on display at last year’s NST-MAI ASEAN Auto Show. The Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 rival is powered by a 1.5 litre 4G15B turbocharged four-cylinder dual-VVT petrol engine.

The mill outputs 147 hp at 5,600 rpm and 210 Nm of max torque between 2,200 to 4,500 rpm, with a six-speed automatic gearbox directing drive to the front wheels. That should be enough to shift the H2’s 1,495 kg kerb weight.

Part of the equipment available on the H2’s exterior include automatic halogen headlamps (with LED DRLs), electric-folding side mirrors with integrated puddle lamps, a sunroof, rear fog lamps and a shark fin roof-mounted radio antenna.

Inside, there is a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, 3.5-inch TFT colour display trip computer and a multifunction steering wheel. A touchscreen infotainment unit and dual-zone automatic air-conditioning (with dust filter) are fitted as well.

The safety suite on the H2 includes six airbags (front passenger and driver, side curtain, front sides), Electronic Stability Program, and ABS with EBD and BA. The SUV also features a FRH Blind Spot Visual System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and anti-glare rearview mirror as well.

Certainly looks to be a quite a bit of equipment for a sub-RM100k C-segment SUV then? Would you be interested in the H2 over its rivals?

The car is really good looking both interior and exterior. The major drawback would be the brand. Many people won’t dare to buy it because of the origin.

You would need to factor in the tax to bring in the car here plus profit margin for local distributor too.

This car is a C segment SUV or B Segment SUV?

Anyway, China vehicle honestly improve super fast. Been to their country and sat in their local brand vehicle before honestly their quality is quite good and definitely way better than our Proton and Perodua.

Just ppl here afraid of make in China brand cars only.

Only orang kampung now believe Proton is the best.

If you been to China recently, you will notice China made car is far more better than than Proton. They are already catching up Korea.

  • If price similar to HRV, it will be a very competitive mini SUV as it equiped more gadgets than its rivals. I will definitely consider it.

Looks like a bmw x1 with a different grille. Lots of kit for the price. Looks bigger, almost crv size rather than the hrv.

H2 price is likely to be RM98K. Although its C segment, rear shoulder width is like B segment HRV. Shoulder width is no where near Preve. Knee room is sufficiently spacious near HRV like but what’s the point of ample knee room beyond what’s needed when shoulder room is tight for 3 person unless 3rd person sits further out? It’s 18in wheels is a killer since tyre price is around 1-1.2K a piece for the size. Pickup 0-100kmh is around 12 sec as engine runs out of steam after 4500RPM despite the turbo. Car is also very heavy for the small cc engine with a sluggish turbo that takes its time kick in and only function well within a narrow RPM band. Due to insufficient torque before the turbo kicks in, the gearbox hunts quiet a bit for the right gear to settle down. These comments are from Australian test reports & youtube videos on the car tested for braking & acceleration.
