The facelifted Jaguar XJ has made a surprise appearance at the Bangsar Shopping Centre – the refreshed luxury sedan is seen here in base long-wheelbase 2.0 Ti Premium Luxury guise, and a call to Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia confirmed that it is now on sale.
UPDATE: The specs and pricing originally listed in the article was based on the spec sheet displayed next to the car, which turned out to be inaccurate. We’ve since checked with Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia and amended the story accordingly.
Changes to the big cat include a redesigned front bumper incorporating a sharper grille, along with updated LED tail lights with “J-signature” graphics and a revised rear bumper with dual oval exhaust tips.
Inside, there is a new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a quad-core processor, a 60 GB solid state drive and an eight-inch colour touchscreen. This is mated to a revised 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster that can now display a full navigation map, much like the new XF and F-Pace.
The Ford-derived 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine is unchanged from before, making 240 PS and 340 Nm of torque. The ZF eight-speed automatic transmission is also unchanged, sending the engine’s power to the rear wheels. Under the skin, electric power-assisted steering has been added, along with the All-Surface Progress Control (ASPC), a sort of low-speed cruise control for slippery surfaces.
You do get a fair bit of kit as standard, with full-LED headlights with automatic high beam assist, a powered bootlid, navigation and the top 825 W, 20-speaker Meridian Surround Sound system (the latter being a big step up from the 280 W Jaguar Sound system offered as standard on the pre-facelift model) are all in the base price. You still don’t get a reclining rear seat, however – rather egregious considering the kind of car.
The car seen here is fitted with a bunch of options, including 20-inch Kasuga alloy wheels, a pair of 10.2-inch rear entertainment screens, rear business tables and an ambient lighting pack.
The price quoted for the car on display is RM702,918. Sources within JLRM said that this price is inclusive of these options and excludes on-the-road costs, and that the price of the standard car is actually RM645,000 (also not OTR). More local information of the Jaguar XJ will be available soon, so stay tuned.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
The interior is so much uglier than the German rivals. RM645k and xenon lights aren’t even standard? This car is for rich guys who hate the Germans…
BSC is the only hopeful place for this kind of chilled-luxury
High class car with low class service. Only 1 place to service, Glenmarie. At the service centre, got no place to sit. You can stand and watch your car being serviced through a glass panel.
No coffee. No water also. Yes, I am not joking. Coffee machine got but rosak. Water also tak ada. Sometimes you get Hwa Tai biskut but most of the time, nothing.
This is what you call pariah company given the dealership.
One may argue it is for drivers to take their bosses cars in but come on, Jaguar owners like to be treated with some class I am sure and the bosses want to drive their car in for service.
Very very low class service. My advice to Jaguar UK, please withdraw your dealership and open yourself here.
Hate Germans…and Love Indian.
Don’t waste money buying brand new. Just wait 2 years and buy this car at RM350k. Half the price.
That is how bad Jaguar RV is. And the best part, all super rich people buy Jaguar, they service and change all parts happily. When you buy a 2 year old Jag, it is like buying brand new.
I’m sorry but I hope you could read that “Standard kit is fairly basic – you get XENON HEADLIGHTS with LED daytime running lights, a powered bootlid, navigation and the regular 280 W Jaguar Sound system with the BASE PRICE.”
I rather buy new Perdana
This is how a proper interior should be. Not like that tong sampah plastic in the Civic.
Yeah. Except that civic is 5X cheaper than this. I cant even brain how u can make this kinda comparison.
Still waiting for you to prove the comment in a Civic post earlier that Civic only scored 3 star safety rating. So where is the proof or just syok sendiri???
Unrefined engine, turbo sips fuel like lembu minum air, plasticky interior, so so sound insulation
besides, Audi A7, this is the other model that I really love but the price… can’t afford it new.
2.0l engine squeezing 240ps to drag this million tonne piece of metal? what is in their mind ?
Better than your junk kimchi that has 2liter engine that produced 132hp
keyboard warriors know nothing other than bash. bashings make them feel wonderful as if they are better than automotive engineers worldwide with exception to Proton.
fyi the Jag XJ (code named X351) in long wheel base spec (XJ-L) utilises a huge percentage of lightweight material and tipped the scale at only about 1,600kg (as comparison a perdana V6 is about 1,400kg).
this was not achievable in Mercedez S class and BMW 7 series 10 years ago but Jaguar made it available to the mass market in 2010 much to the envy of its rivals.
combine lightweight with super powerful turbocharged engine and 8 speed automatic gearbox – you get a car that is super smooth, nimble like a cat with excellent handling while not forgetting economy (you dont get that of course, if you are heavyfooted).
try it bro. go for a test drive. just say that u work as a personal driver and u come on behalf of your boss. that will make some impression on the salesman.
Agree. Better than the Perdana that can only use ‘old’ platform from sushi to build ‘new’ car out of our RM1.5B. Shame on them!
This must be the most expensive 2L car! more expensive than Mercedes S400 hybrid.
If cannot afford it, can buy the new Proton Perdana.
one of my retirement plan
Beautiful like the sleek wild cat it’s named after. Jaguar has managed to keep it’s established brand name transitting into the high-tech motorworld of today successfully. So much technical innovations back-up this beauty. The beauty and the beast are finally inseparably together.
for RM700K, i can get a pretty decent condo and the price still appreciates. don’t spend anything more than RM200K for a car coz with that money and monthly repayment, it’s always better to get a house.
