It doesn’t look like very long to go before the facelifted second-gen Chevrolet Colorado makes its market debut here. An example of the pick-up, which made its ASEAN debut in April, is on display at a Chevy stand in Naza Automall.
The mid-life refresh brings about a front fascia, revised grille and hood as well as slimmer headlamps, styling cues that were previewed by the GM Australia-built Colorado Xtreme show vehicle seen at the Bangkok Motor Show in March.
The display vehicle has had its windows blackened to the point no view of the inside is possible, but no surprise as to what’s inside – changes to the interior consist of a new-look dash and a redesigned centre console, and the Colorado now has a new instrument panel and fresh seat trim, with improved soft-touch materials on call.
Based on the general specification table stuck across the front windscreen, the Malaysian Colorado will come with an eight-inch color touchscreen and the latest MyLink infotainment system incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard equipment will include auto climate control, LED DRLs, a reverse camera, front/rear parking sensors and a remote-start function.
Safety kit includes traction control, ESC and dual front/driver’s knee airbags, and the local Colorado (in its high-spec configuration at least) will be equipped with lane departure warning, frontal collision alert and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The facelift is equipped with an upgraded 2.5 litre Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that has been reworked to offer better performance, fuel economy and lower emissions. The Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) Euro 4-compliant unit now produces 177 hp at 3,600 rpm and 440 Nm at 2,000 rpm, a bump up over the 161 hp and 380 Nm seen on the 2.5L Duramax in the current pre-facelift model.
The 2.8 litre Duramax seen on the pre-facelift will be retained. It remains to be seen what variants Naza Quest will offer for the refresh job, but it shouldn’t veer far from what’s on call now.
Currently, the pre-facelift Colorado is available in 2.5 litre (161 hp/380 Nm) and 2.8 litre forms, the latter with two torque outputs: 193 hp/440 Nm and 193 hp/500 Nm. The 2.5 litre and mid-range 2.8 litre is paired with a six-speed manual, while the higher output mill gets a six-speed auto transmission.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
What is the point of buying this if chevy pulls out of the ASEAN market?
where you hear this? – i have not heard this?
thats some serious power from that 2.5….
But the softy comforty suspension is rubbish. I almost puke my intestines out cruising at 100 km/h on the desaru highway.
Looks good. Finally they have a competitive 2.5. Biggest issue of the pre-facelift model was the unavailability of a competitive 2.5 with an automatic transmission.
What happens to Chevrolet showroom seremban? Why is it locked? It has one unit Colorado on display but no signs of operation. This is not the level of service Naza Quest will approve. What a shame.
where is the projector? i am guessing this is just the LT trim. waiting to see the LTZ.
Chevrolet bread and butter cars just cannot sell here especially in competition with the Japanese models. Maybe Naza should change strategy and sell niche models such as the Silverado, Tahoe, Camaro or even the Corvette, at reasonable prices of course.
The only sellable model from their stable. Pity.
In other country they already have the next gen colorado here we still get the old gen with facelift wadefak
Oh my.. Chevrolet is bad RV in Malaysia.
Had they brought in the new Z71 Duramax it wouldve been the truck to have. This is just an old Colorado with a front end face lift that nobody buys.
People will buy if it’s 50k
