GALLERY: New Toyota Camry Hybrid Luxury variant

toyota-camry-hybrid-luxury-1

The updated Toyota Camry range was announced earlier, and while the 2.0G X was displayed last week at the Mitsui Outlet Park, now we have pictures of the new 2.5 Hybrid Luxury variant from the Stop The Crash event at the Sepang track.

It is largely the same as the existing Camry Hybrid model, though the 17-inch wheels now get a different silver finish. The front fog lamps are now LED units, and the JBL sound system gains an additional two speakers for a total of 12. A driving video recorder has been added as standard equipment too. Everything else remains the same as before.

The new, more affordable RM164,900 Camry Hybrid Premium variant does without items such as the Qi wireless charger for smartphones, nanoe ioniser, and 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The latter can be added as an option on the Premium. Tyres are 215/60R16 on the Premium, whereas they are 215/55R17 on the Luxury; the same as on the 2015 Camry Hybrid.

At RM174,900, the Camry Hybrid Luxury’s price is unchanged from the original Hybrid variant that was introduced last year. The new Camry range now offers more options for customers, and all variants, including the base 2.0 litre model, get seven airbags and electronic stability control as standard.

thank you for ripping off Malaysians. CBU Camry with 10 airbags and high spec is AUD$29k (Rm100k).

Come here, CKD should be cheaper but sell RM165k and RM175k

In Australia, Camry Hybrid so cheap until all teksis use it. Here become luxury car pulak

Errr… $29.1k???? That’s MSRP for the limited release Camry RZ, basically a dressed up base/ fleet-spec Altise. Don’t forget, that excludes on road costs & dealer mark ups! Btw, all Camry & Aurion are locally manufactured in Altona, Victoria LOL, not fully imported (At least, not yet.)!

the current Camry is kinda half-baked tbh. We get the exterior of the updated US model, but retain the pre-update interior, with the exception of a new speedometer cluster.

Likewise, the Aurion (Basically an Australian built ASEAN Camry with a V6.) retains the pre-update exterior (With minor changes such as the LED headlights for the top-spec Presara and milder body kit for the Sportivo.) and receives the ASEAN model’s updated interior.

Not happy that we don’t get the full extent of changes as in other markets, but I guess Toyota did not want to spend too much as they’ll be ending local manufacturing and switching to a fully imported line up at the end of next year.

Just like the user who posted about the mythical Japanese-built, US market Camry ages ago (Japanese-built US/ Canadian market Camries no longer exist in their current generation.), check and get your facts right before you post anything!

agree. haha my father change from 508 to this..the 508 interior design is much more sporty and nice.

Thumb up 12 Thumb down 1
      • sporty is not his cup of tea, when I get older I think I will like the wooden design too, is like for matured and fine individual.

That is by far the most dated interior on a mid sized modern sedan. Come on Tomoco, it’s almost 2017.

        Omg, it’s almost 2017 :,(

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 1
      • Your dad made the RIGHT move changing from 508 to Camry, 508 is all looks only, nothing more. Moving to Camry means your dad can now delete those tow truck numbers from his phone and you wouldn’t be late for your tuition classes.

The 508 has turbo. Acik still crawling in his turtle Camry and fell asleep because the drive is so boring. Peugeot is moving forward, Camry is moving backward. Toyota is only good in hybrid or electric nothing else.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 5
          • Camry Hybrid turtle compared to a puny 508 1.6 turbo? Shows you never drove both before and you are not up to mark LOL!! Please stick to your Kancil.

yes..still a good decision. 508 after 3 yrs..suffer from all kind of disease. but it’s his honest review that 508 drives better than the camry (even tho the hybrid offer more power).

IMO, the non-two tone wheel looks better. Unfortunately the Camry is now looking very tired and dated.

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 1
  • To be honest, I believe the pre-FL Camry 2.5 Hybrid rims looked better in Black with Chrome. Why did Toyota change back to silver rims? Moving Backwards?

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 4
    • theanswer on Nov 30, 2016 at 5:19 pm

this one is the cheaper version la. the black and chrome rim still available for top spec hybrid.

So what’s new with this Camry again? Current model is getting up to 14k discount. Why would anyone pay the full price for the exact same car, for an extra 2 speakers, same wheels that’s now fully silver colour and a DVR? Oh wait. All models now have 7 airbags. Much wow! Toyota has gotten so complacent, it’s not funny anymore. I really hope the Hyundai Ioniq destroys the Camry in the Hybrid market just as the Civic is destroying the Altis.

Thumb up 14 Thumb down 1
  • Just get Hyundai Ioniq and the extra money can use to cover up ‘resale value’ :)

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 1
  • from far and without zoom, i thought the rim looks like Alza’s rim…

Camry Hybrid should be priced at RM164,900 with Nanoe ionizer, 7″ infotainment, 1st-debut Camry Hybrid 17″ rim and without the Qi. Qi should be optional add-on.

Maybe just wait Accord Hybrid to appear.

  • Yes! Toyota the most luxurious car. That’s why Toyota is no one in the world. Not only that it’s the most reliable, durable and highest profitable car company. Those not afford the price can work harder coz this brand deserves rich people to settle the best.Poor rebadged and non profit companies still far behind.Copy paste Toyota outdated products.

    Don’t buy now.
Wait for 2 month, they will discount 10k.
Camry 2.5 Hybrid Premium will be RM130K.
    Worth to wait!!

Oh my the interior is so old compared to the Accord or any D segment competitor. Hopefully the next gen Camry with it’s striking exterior will have an interior to match it.
