@jelleprins Some years away, but yes
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) 23 December 2016
The Tesla Roadster may have been the company’s first production car but it has since been discontinued as of 2012. However, Elon Musk has confirmed on Twitter that a new version is in the works although it will be “some years away” before it debuts.
The original Roadster utilised the Lotus Elise platform, and was powered by a single AC induction motor located at the rear axle. During its production years and after, the Roadster continuously received updates, with the most recent being a larger capacity battery pack.
Musk has also suggested that the company’s newest electric vehicle – the Model 3, will be a point of reference for the Roadster’s successor. A render of what the next-generation Roadster may look like was created by Theophilus Chin earlier this year.

Amazing how Tesla, a rather young company can succeed. Proton, being rather “older” until today, struggling with debts and losses and hardly can make any sales.
In the 80s you can never hear the name Tesla. But now, Tesla sells hundreds of thousands of cars per year.
Maybe the lazy Proton staff and management need to learn from Tesla how to be a champion

The reason why we can never hear the name Tesla is because Tesla Motors was not even exist yet. The company was founded in 2003. There is a search engine called Google. You should try it. You’ll gain a lot of useful knowledge from it
