The Volkswagen Arteon has won a five-star rating in Euro NCAP, and with the highest score for pedestrian protection achieved by an executive car to date.
In the Adult Occupant Protection category, the Arteon scored 96%, while managing 85% in the Child Occupant Protection category. The related B8 Volkswagen Passat also scored a full five-star rating from Australasian NCAP.
The successor to the Volkswagen CC also achieved 85% in the Pedestrian Protection category, which Volkswagen said can be attributed to the combination of the standard-fit emergency braking function relating to pedestrians, along with the high passive potential for safeguarding unprotected road users.
The Arteon comfortably achieved a five-star rating in the Safety Assist category, with an 82% rating achieved here for active safety systems. The assessment included consideration for equipment such as seatbelt fastening reminders for all seats, cruise control, Front Assist with emergency braking function, and lane keeping assist.
