TuneD shows revised Proton Saga bodykit – RM5,490

In May, local tuning outfit TuneD released a new line of bodykits and other enhancements designed for the Saga, Persona and Preve. Reception was, suffice to say, mixed, so the company announced two months later that it would be redesigning the kit for the Saga. Now, it’s finally ready for primetime.

The new front fascia features a slimmer front grille that is more cohesive with the rest of the car – it incorporates a mesh insert and a red stripe that give it a sportier look. The bumper has been reworked, too, with the full-width air intake now split into three sections, including a downturned centre inlet. There’s also a more subtle gloss black splitter underneath.

Otherwise, it’s the same kit as before, with LED daytime running lights, deeper side skirts and a new rear bumper with twin (fake) exhaust tips being part of the package. Also included is a full body paint package that adds blacked out pillars to give the car a floating roof look.

TuneD has also firmed up the price of the entry-level Standard package, which will retail at RM5,490 and include all of the items mentioned above. The company previously mentioned that it would be offering zero interest, easy-payment scheme instalments for Maybank credit cards holders.

Sitting on top of that is the Executive pack that throws in partial leather upholstery, new soft-touch door trim covers, under-bonnet insulation and a new inner boot cover, plus LED lighting (low beam, high beam and positioning lights) for the headlights. The range-topping Premium adds push-button start, keyless entry, 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and high-performance tyres.

So, what do you guys think of the new look? Sound off in the comments section after the jump.

nope. this kind of marketing has existed for more than 30 years. in 1985 Ford Fiesta has a sporty version known as XR2 which is more expensive than Ford Escord entry level. it looks overlapping but but it worked just fine.

The Escort (equivalent of Focus today) also has a sporty model known as XR3 (Japanese equivalent is Ford Laser TX3) and is more expensive than the bigger Ford Sierra.

Why stupid? Everyone have the right to have a little bit of fun and individualize their rides.

Toyota does this with silly TRD sportivo kits. Honda Modulo kits on the Civic and Jazz is not that great either (Mugen is better).

      • malaysians will fall for go-faster bodykit. they will buy those items to make the car looks fast. Proton Wira SE sold in huge volumes because of that. Honda has Modulo bodykit for City, Jazz, Civic while Toyota has TRD Sportivo streetwear for Vios

actually TuneD is smart. by doing this, they are hoping Proton will offer them as OEM vendor. just like Carlsson and AMG for Mercedez, and Brabus. the same for BMW.

  • You can pay RM500k to change the aesthetic of the Saga. But you cannot change that Saga is still pretty much a garbage car.

actually there is a small market for such buyers. a good example is Myvi Advance and Extreme – selling between 50-60K compare to 40K for the base spec Myvi.

At least Proton have more safety features than Perodua. Not only that Proton have EV vehicles but Perodua don’t have and also Perodua have rear axle problem whereas Proton doesn’t have any rear axle problem. But Proton better, Don’t buy Perodua

Anybody who can afford RM5.5K for a bodykit won’t be driving a Proton Saga in the first place so who are they targeting this product at?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 9 Thumb down 5

They are targeting people who think spending 5.5k will make the Saga “Faster & Safer”. I think the 5.5k is better keep for rainy days because our fuels & goods are getting more expensive.

How the hell is Saga 2017 have the ‘Push-start’ button engine? I owned the premium version & yet that feature is not present dowh…… Does adding that feature is called ‘Accessory’ ?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0
    • Why not? A certain brand just added USB port and hailed it as a super duper accessory, furthermore they expect u to pay for that!

This bodykit gives any aero benefit ka? Any proof becoz ppl gonna pay 5k for such thing.

If not, the bodykit just made the car heavier, and definitely all show-no-go.
