Lexus to unveil new concept car at 2017 Tokyo show

Lexus UX Concept

Lexus has announced that it will unveil a new concept car at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show later this month. Toyota’s luxury brand is being rather mum here, only saying that it will reveal full details during a press conference at the show itself, on October 25.

So, what could this new concept be? Looking at the company’s current lineup, both the ES and GS sedans are due for a replacement, as is the CT hybrid hatchback – so a show car could presage any of these three models. It could also preview a new variant of an existing car, such as an LC convertible.

Of course, this being Lexus’ “home” show, the company could pull all the stops and go with a real flight of fantasy. Given Lexus’ recent form, however, even an otherworldly concept could become a reality someday – witness the development of the stunning LF-LC into the production LC coupé.

Aside from the unnamed concept car, the Tokyo show will also mark the Japanese debut of the LS luxury sedan, as well as the facelifted CT and NX SUV. Lexus is also rumoured to showcase a new seven-seater version of the RX SUV, built to compete with the BMW X5 and Volvo XC90.

  • Looks like the designer crushed the sketchings and throw it into the dustbin. But other designer saw it as an art and start building clay models using it.
