Twelve Chinese car brands to include electronic stability control in all their cars from January 2018

Twelve Chinese car brands have announced their decision to fit all new models with electronic stability control (ESC) from January 2018. They brands are Besturn, Changan, Dongfeng Fengshen, Geely, Haval, Hongqi, Lynk & Co, MG, Trumpchi, Roewe, Senova, and Wey. Collectively, they represent 85% of the domestic brand market.

The carmakers made the announcement at today’s launch of Stop the Crash China in Shanghai. Stop the Crash is a Global NCAP led partnership which has been campaigning around the world to promote crash avoidance technologies.

The anti-skid technology, which can help prevent loss of control crashes, has been mandatory in both the European Union and United States since 2012.

“This is a bold step by Chinese manufacturers, who have shown a real commitment to road safety by fitting this technology as standard ahead of regulatory requirements. CATARC is committed to continuing to promote Stop the Crash technologies and to save lives in China,” said Yu Kai, party secretary of China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).

At a Stop the Crash event in November 2016, the Malaysian government announced that all new vehicles in our market will be required to be fitted with ESC by June 2018. “We are proud that the Malaysian government is taking this important step forward in road safety and to be the first ASEAN country to mandate ESC,” transport minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said then.

On 02 May 2018, P1 & 02 will tell new Transport Minister that they’re unable to comply with June 2018 dateline.

It shall be postponed, new dateline announcement pending further discussion.

Months later, still no news. It’ll be conveniently forgotten.

That November 2016 announcement was a shiok sendiri moment for the then Transport Minister..

Dulu kita gelak tongsan cars, even tin milo myvi also safer than them.

    Who’s laughing now?

Meanwhile we have perodua ceo saying bs like “we are committed to safety, but not aiming for 5 star rating”, “bezza premium x don’t have stability control, it only scores 4 star, but 4 star is still very safe enough”

Proton meanwhile, you are under the purview of Geely, i hope they know what they need to do. Like father, like son. Like Geely, Proton too need to equip all their future cars with ESC.

Then you haven’t paid enough attention.

New saga only top spec has ESC, base spec doesn’t even have ABS. Exora facelift removed ESC.

          Persona2 – alredi all got
          Preve – alredi all got

Exora – can be retrofit for all variants
Perdana2 – can stop sell base model
Er3 – can stop sell if suzuki no ESC

The anti-skid technology(ESC), which can help prevent loss of control crashes, has been “Mandatory” in both Europe & US since 2012 says it all.
It mean the Orang Puteh take safety more seriously.
