Petronas new points scheme for Mesra loyalty programme – up to 3x as many points as competition

Petronas has announced a new points structure for its Mesra loyalty programme, where customers now stand to receive three Mesra points for every litre of fuel purchased from Petronas. All types of fuel from the national fuel company are eligible, including Petronas Primax 95 and 97, as well as Dynamic Diesel Euro 5 and Euro 2.

The Mesra card scheme offers more points in return than other brands, Petronas suggests, where 100 litres purchased will bring 300 points, compared to 200 points and 100 points respectively for two other unnamed fuel brands. Customers can apply for the Mesra card at any of the more than 1,000 Petronas stations nationwide, or online at www.mymesra.com.my .

“This new point structure will provide greater savings to our customers, where they can redeem points in a faster and more convenient manner, at any of our over 1000 stations nationwide. Additionally, we have many rewarding programmes and campaigns in place running all-year long,” said head of marketing for retail business Abang Jimmy Abang Mordian.

In conjunction with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team’s fourth consecutive world championship title scooped this year, Petronas is also offering a limited edition ‘Petronas 4X World Champion’ T-shirt at RM15, plus 200 Mesra points. The T-shirt retails at RM20, and will be available at Mesra outlets from December 1, while stocks last.

      Petron 1500 liter Ron95=3000 points=RM45
      Petronas 1500 liter Ron95=4500 points=RM45
Same reward in term of RM. Gimmick !!
Choose the fuel quality by filling up FULL tank and try both brands.

      Petronas offers RM45 same ~

Petron spend 1500liters get 3000 points
Petronas spend 1500liters get 4500 points

But with petronas u can actually redeem faster at great fuel value
      1) petronas, with 1400 liters, u can change RM42 fuel
      2) Petron 1400 liters @2800 point u can only change 1600pts x 1 (RM20)+ 450pts x 2 (RM5)~ RM30 fuel

      RM12 difference

Dekat PETRONAS cuma belanja RM2,310 sahaja.. Beza RM1,155 tu. Jangan tertipu dengan PETRON, kira betul2

        Petron spend rm3000 = 3000point = rm45petrol
        petronas spend rm3570* = 4500point = rm45petrol
        (*petrol at rm2.38/liter)

    • Eric_Ocy, you are correct. For 3000 P-Miles points, you can redeem RM45 worth of fuel. Mesra on the other hand, RM45 worth of fuel will require 4500 Mesra points. From redemption stand point P-Miles holder stand to gain and please do not forget that P-Miles points will never expire !! Don’t think any other fuel card can match that !!!

Petronas so stingly. Malaysians don’t want your points for payung and tissue paper redemption. Pls hold back competitions for BMW and Mercedes cars.

Last time always got BMW and Merc cars. So we got incentive to fill up petrol from Petronas.

Come on Petronas. Don’t be stingy.

Let’s compare these Points to Currency. Is 1 Petronas Point Equivalent to its competitors points in terms of “Buying Power”? (e.g. 1 Ringgit vs 1 U.S. Dollar). Just because more points are given, doesn’t mean its value is increased (its competitors may offer better redeemable products/offers for less points).

The points are awarded for the amount of fuel (3 points per liter), not every Ringgit spent.

    My simple calculation

    Petron you buy 1500 liters = 3000 PetronMiles point = RM45 redeemable

so with the same 1500 liters you get 1500X3 (petronas point) = 4500 mesra point = RM45

    naaaaahhhh they play math again…

  • Well they are saying 300 points for 100 litre. So.. it means that if u fill up for rm10, u will get 12 points (4*3). U will get 12 points instead of 10 points (when it was rm1=1 point). Not very different

    • Where got RM1=1 point last time? It has always been 1 liter=1 point when buying fuel at Petronas. Now, it’s 1 liter= 3 points. Side note: You can exchange 1000 points for RM10 of fuel or stuffs at the Kedai Mesra.

    Petron:

    RM 1 = 1 Miles point
    RM 3000 = 1261 Liter = 3000 Miles Point = RM 45 Petrol
    RM 3000 = 3000/RM 2.38 (1 liter) = 1261 liter

    Petronas:

    RM 2.38 = 1 Liter = 3 Mesra Point
    RM 3570 = 1500 Liter = 4500 Mesra Point = RM 45 Petrol
    RM 3570 = 3570/RM 2.38 (1 liter) = 1500 liter

*Comparison based on latest fuel ron95 price

Updated. Petron miles now 1 liter = 2 Miles point

      Petron:
      RM 2.38 = 1 Liter = 2 Miles Point
      RM 3570 = 1500 Liter = 3000 Miles Point = RM 45 Petrol
      RM 3570 = 3570/RM 2.38 (1 liter) = 1500 liter

      Petronas:
      RM 2.38 = 1 Liter = 3 Mesra Point
      RM 3570 = 1500 Liter = 4500 Mesra Point = RM 45 Petrol
      RM 3570 = 3570/RM 2.38 (1 liter) = 1500 liter

So using Petron or Petronas produce same value!

Petron last time ok. Now sucks.. U just get 2 points for every litre only. Last time 1 point for every ringgit. Go for Petronas now.
