SPYSHOTS: 2018 Honda HR-V facelift seen in Malaysia

The Honda HR-V looks set to receive its first facelift, as a covered-up test mule has been spotted near Digital Mall PJ by paultan.org reader Syazwan Ali. As we’ve yet to see a facelifted HR-V in any other market, Malaysia could very well be among the first few countries in the world to receive it.

Focusing on the vehicle’s front, we spot a more pronounced and upright front grille, likely inspired by what is seen on the latest Civic. The lower apron also appears to have been redesigned to feature larger fog lamp enclosures, and the honeycomb mesh for the lower intake has been replaced with slats instead.

At the rear, a large part of the tailgate has been covered off, with only parts of the taillights and reverse camera being shown to us, although the former doesn’t appear to sport new graphics as far as we can see. Reasonable guesses for what’s changed under the black covers include new garnishes for the tailgate, and more far-fetched ones involve the word ‘hybrid’.

The B-segment SUV first made its Malaysian launch debut back in 2015, where it quickly became a sales success. A minor update was introduced in May last year, where a new body colour and wheels were made available.

Honda Malaysia should bring the Hybrid in, then they can sell it 30% cheaper to the rakyat as it will benefit from the tax incentives for hybrid given by the Government. Can even sell the HRV for RM70k

Singapore sells the Hybrid HRV. Why can’t Malaysia?

      • Diff market segmentation. MY buyers of SUVs & crossovers dun prefer hybrids, hence the lack of this option here. Some says 7seaters is more preferred than hybrid.

but our beloved Government say EEV now makes a huge segment of car sales now. Is this another lie then?

Our Government said Hybrids selling super well

When people keep on buying cars based on brand albeit lacking features, that demand will drive the price up. What’s the point blaming others, when the fault is in the consumers’ hands?

Singapore sells the Hybrid. But Malaysia refuses to bring the hybrid in cause then price will drop to below RM80k.

Why our beloved car companies dont want to take advantage of our Hybrid tax rebate???

Facelift or not.. will still be the best selling compact SUV cos Toyota CH-R already dead before its launching due to 150k crazy pricing. I believe with this facelift, 6 airbags/keyless/pushstart will become standard with other upgrades…

Most probably (my guessing) it may have led lights, auto start button, push start, better interior, 6 airbags, n mayb just mayb HONDA Sensing …
Hope to see them soon… Still a better choice then stupid Under spec-ed CH-R

Want to know UMW strategy? Everybody knows it.
      Step 1: CH-R at RM140k+
if no sales, go to step 2.
      Step 2: CH-R with EEV incentive at RM130k+ + 360 view.
if still no sales, go to step 3.
      Step 3: CH-R CKD Hybrid at RM120k+.
if still no sales, go to step 4.
      Step 4: CH-R CKD Hybrid DVD-AVN + 360 view at RM120k+.
      …..
      Step 5: New Vios.

Wow, spyshots in Malaysia. Before anywhere else in the world. Not bad. Malaysia boleh. A hybrid HRV would be good too to give the SUV a bit more oomph. But a 1.5 turbo engine would be better.
