2018 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid – order books now officially open, expected launch to take place in May

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has announced order taking for the fifth-generation Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is now open (no pricing revealed yet), with an official launch expected to take place in May this year. The model has already been previewed earlier and initial specifications were provided as well.

The new C27 is continue to feature a S-Hybrid powertrain like the C26 Serena, which consists of a MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected twin-CVTC four-cylinder petrol engine providing 150 PS at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The Xtronic CVT with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) returns as well, and adopts a new dual arm tensioner for a lower tension on the arm belt.

The hybrid aspect comes in the form of an ECO motor that controls the car’s Idling Stop function and serves as an alternator during deceleration. The 1.8 kW/200 A motor also offers a “torque assist” function, providing a 50 Nm boost for up to one second when moving away from a standstill.

The powertrain is claimed to provide the Serena S-Hybrid with a fuel consumption of as low as 14.2 km/l (following the NEDC), and earns the MPV the Energy Efficient Status (EEV) as well.

Other specs include a seven-seat configuration (2-2-3), a 360-degree Around View Monitor, seven USB ports, hands-free powered sliding doors and Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD) – the last three items are claimed to be first-in-class features.

Safety-wise, there are six airbags, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), traction control, Hill Start Assist (HSA), ABS with EBD, brake assist and dual Isofix child seat anchor points. Four exterior colours will be offered – Brilliant White, Tungsten Silver, Diamond Black and Cashmere Gold.

If you’d like to view the Nissan MPV, ETCM will be organising a number of island displays and roadshows at various locations. The public will also get a chance to try out the ‘It’s Magic’ app at these events. The full list of locations and the registration of interest page for the new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid can be found here.

Last time owned a C24 7 seater serena and upgrade to 8 seater ACR50 estima.

With the 7 seater new Serena, how to change new car?

What a poor marketing strategy for not providing the 8 seater car.

The Innova has found its way into many M’sian families that needed a comfortable 8-seater.

    • I always like Nissan but ETCM really disappoint me. Always giving crappy stuffs compare to overseas Nissan. These days people want more options. Don’t be so conservative!

I’m inclined to make my purchase because of the double-opening rear door, which is the reason I’m interested in this car in the first place. If this feature is not available in Malaysia, I’m putting my money elsewhere.
