G05 BMW X5 gets catalogue of M Performance Parts

It was only a matter of time before BMW made M Performance Parts for the latest G05 BMW X5, and here they are. With these add-ons, customers will be able to stand out from a regular X5 when the model goes on sale in selected markets from March 2019.

On the exterior, several carbon-fibre parts with a high-gloss finish are available, starting with the air intake trim element for the standard bumper and the front winglets. In other areas, you can have the rear winglets and diffuser done up in carbon-fibre as well, including the exterior mirror caps. For the vehicle’s sides, there are M Performance sill in black matte bearing the package’s inscription.

No shortage of wheel options either, with a set of 20-inch M Star Spoke (Style 748 M) light alloys paired with all-terrain tyres being offered to those that want the “off-road” look. There’s also 22-inch M Performance Start Spoke (Style 749 M) flow formed alloys that are a total of 4 kg lighter than wheels of a comparable size.

That’s not all, as performance tyres can be ordered and mounted on wheel that are up to 22 inches in size. For those who require more stopping power, M Performance brakes are available, whereby four-piston, aluminium, red-painted front calipers are coupled with vented and perforated brake discs.

The sporty theme extends to the interior as well, with an M Performance steering wheel that features a 12 o’clock marking and carbon-fibre/Alcantara trim. A good complement to the steering wheel are carbon-fibre shift paddles to replace the standard chrome-finished ones, along with a set of M Performance floor mats.

If that still isn’t enough, BMW has the M Performance Drive Analyser, which provides those behind the wheel with driving dynamics data, as well as extensive and professional logging and analysis options. It also enables trip recording on a smartphone video camera, driving data logging and route tracking based on GPS position data. The system consists of an OBD stick that plugs into the on-board diagnosis socket and works with a dedicated smartphone app.

I hope there won’t be many Proton fanboys who will come here and say X70 is a better car than this X5

Don’t worry yourself. Proton fanboys won’t come here brag about having 1.6 million cars that have high risk to catch fire. You can keep that badge of fiery honour.
