The Audi Q2 is making its Malaysian debut at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) event today, along with the second-generation Audi Q5 at official distributor Euromobil’s booth. The display cars are from Singapore and might not be in the exact spec Malaysia will eventually get, but the two much-anticipated models are now open for booking.
The Q2 was an all-new model for Audi when it debut in March 2016 as the most compact member of the brand’s Q range of SUVs. Sitting below the Q3, Q5 and Q7, the Q2 is a funky crossover that’s even smaller than the Q3, which battles the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. At 4,191 mm long and 1,794 mm wide, the raised five-door hatchback is 197 mm shorter and 37 narrower than the first-gen Q3.
We will be getting the Q2 in 1.4 TFSI COD S tronic form. That means a 1.4 litre turbo engine with 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. This is the same engine used in the second-gen Volkswagen Tiguan here, and it’s mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The “COD” means “cylinder on demand” cylinder deactivation, which shuts down two cylinders while coasting when engine speed is between 1,400 and 3,200 rpm. This is of course to save fuel, and the rate FC is 5.3 litres per 100 km, or 18.9 km/l. 0-100 km/h acceleration is done in 8.5 seconds and top speed for the 1,280 kg mini SUV is 212 km/h.
The Q2 that we’ll get is in Sport form, which is more trendy and “high-spec looking” than the non-Sport red showcar we have here, which is also a 1.4 TFSI COD S tronic. The display car rides on 17-inch 5-V-spoke wheels – 18- and even 19-inch Audi Sport wheels are also available.
According to Euromobil sales personnel, the CBU imported Q2 will arrive by the end of the year for below RM230k. That puts it slightly below the MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports, which is locally assembled.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
New owners will qualify for petrol subsidy. Dont hesitate and make the right choice.
No. The petrol subsidy only for cheaper cars. Not luxury one. Even you buy porsche with CC below 1500, you are not entitle to the subsidy. Like car prices below 100K will get the subsidy. So wait for transport minister annoucement.
Waiting but not coming, just like their Manifesto promises. So how now?
what subsidy? better understand tge details before comment here. furthermore, what u can do with just rm30?
Audi Q2 RM230k , a full 100k less than BMW X2.
unfair comparison. bmw x2 is using 2.0 engine. this q2 is using 1.4 engine.
Wow, German car below Rm230k and caplang Toyota Camry is RM190k.
No logic at all. A mere Japanese car is now trying to overtake German brands.
UMW, GLC controlled company have abang abangs who got no brains doing marketing.
This car is good, you can get fuel subsidy from government even it cost 230k, but persona can’t get subsidy
Overpriced. Overpriced. Underspecced. Underspecced. Third world consumer. Third world consumer.
Nice… super expensive car still eligible for fuel subsidy…!
Yeay!! Buy this car will get fuel subsidy. Thanks gov
congrats. this qualify for fuel subsidy.
Subsidise the rich… oh wai
Oh 1.4L Turbo! Paired with the dual-clutch automatic. Great… Audi never learn.
Should be a good buy. Same engine as my MK2 Tiguan but with better build quality and 7 speed dry. Tiguan is 6 speed wet. I wish they sell below RM190k. Fun to drive car. This car will not get fuel subsidy. LGE said already. Good decision from him
Eventhough Audi looks good in everything, most local mechanics here do not recommend it at all. The only recommend Merz and BMW. Not sure what’s really problem here. I love Audi but scared to try. Don’t want to waste money.
rm230k? wow! hard to sell!
