2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor Ford Ranger debuts – 2.3L EcoBoost, 350 hp and 522 Nm, 0-98 km/h in 6.1s!

2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor Ford Ranger debuts – 2.3L EcoBoost, 350 hp and 522 Nm, 0-98 km/h in 6.1s!

If you ever thought the Ford Ranger Raptor lacked performance, well, Hennessey will take care of that for you. Once again, the aftermarket tuner has taken another Ford pick-up truck and did what they do best.

This time, the donor vehicle is the updated 2019 Ford Ranger – in the US, the Rangers all share the 2.3 litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. In stock guise, the petrol engine makes 270 hp and 420 Nm of torque, but thanks to a new high-flow air induction system, less restrictive (and better sounding) stainless steel catback exhaust system and ECU tuning for increased boost, the VelociRaptor Ranger now makes 350 hp and 522 Nm of torque.

With that tune, it sprints from zero to 60 mph (0-98 km/h) in 6.1 seconds, or about 1.3 seconds quicker than the stock tune. In comparison, the actual Ranger Raptor with its 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel mill (213 PS, 500 Nm) gets from 0-100 km/h in about 10.4 seconds. Just to be clear, the 2.3L EcoBoost is not available in Malaysia – the Rangers sold here get the 2.2L Duratorq and 2.0L EcoBlue units, the latter available as a single turbo or bi-turbo configuration.

Back to the VelociRaptor – other upgrades include a beefier suspension setup for improved off-road performance, achieved courtesy of Hennessey’s Stage 1 suspension system that lifts the car by four inches. Together with the new Hennessey 17-inch alloy wheels and BF Goodrich all-terrain 285/70 tyres, the Hennessey VelociRaptor Ford Ranger is nearly six inches taller than stock.

For looks, the stealthy pick-up truck gets a new front bumper design with integrated LED lights, although the winch is an optional upgrade. A roof-mounted LED light bar is also available as an option.

Company founder and CEO, John Hennessey said: “We are so excited to introduce our 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor upgrades for the 2019 Ford Ranger truck. The demand for our VelociRaptor upgrades for the Ford Raptor truck has been incredible over the past 10 years. We are thrilled to be able to offer increased power, performance – on and off-road all packed in our exclusively branded VelociRaptor package.”

In terms of pricing, a completely done-up Hennessey VelociRaptor Ford Ranger costs US$64,950 (RM266k). If you already own the Ranger, the full upgrade pack costs US$19,950 (RM82k) plus shipping. Production is limited to just 500 units (each unit comes with a serial number plaque in the engine compartment and interior) for the 2019 model year and each upgrade comes with a three-year or 36,000 mile warranty.

This is really powerful for such a small displacement CC.

This is what you call hard work. Ford researchers try to get the most of a small engine.

Please read properly. This is not by Ford, this is by Hennessey. It has nothing to do with Ford. And don’t get confused between this tuner house and the cognac.

By right this can be sell in boleh land with less than 200k. But Malaysia classified this engine as a sports car engine that’s why it is overpriced in Malaysia

No. Reason why is because of the rear spring suspension classified this as a SUV instead of the cheaper dutied pickup truck category.
