The Selangor state government has announced that additional routes for the state’s free bus service will be introduced this year. The planned route expansion of the Smart Selangor bus service – which has been operational since 2015 – will involve areas in Klang and Shah Alam, theSundaily reports.
According to Selangor executive councilor for local government, public transportation and new village development Ng Sze Han, the Klang municipal council and Shah Alam city council plans to add on new bus routes so that more people can enjoy free bus services.
“We are also exploring the usage of mini buses or coaster buses for people living within the jurisdiction of the Sepang Municipal Council to be able to cater to the people there, even if demand isn’t as strong,“ he said at the official launch of a new SJ05 route for the Smart Selangor bus service.
He added that the state government has allocated RM30 million to maintain and operate all the bus routes in the state. The free bus service currently has around 40 routes in state, covering areas such as Sepang, Selayang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Klang, Seri Kembangan, Ampang, Kajang, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.

This is the same government as before no?
Better develop and extend LRT & MRT and prepare better facilities. More environmentally, can reduce traffic jammed. Bus only helped to reduce transportation expenses but caused traffic jammed that wasting time.
The only ones excited about this are the foreign workers that uses this bus service. Regular folks don’t care about their infrequent schedule nor their unpopular stops.
Doesn’t matter who would get excited about it, good sir. Imperfect as it may be, the service without fee helps people with less means or mindful of wallet get closer to where they want to go, and that is always a good thing.
The question now is why should we tax payers subsidize foreigners ? They should pay at least pay double for public transport. Why make places so accessible for these foreign labourers ? KLCC is full of these people during weekends and public holidays. Even tourist are asking themselves are they in the right country after watching the crowd in disbelief. Foreigners number more than locals
Good one bro Anthony! Fist bump!
MBSA is clearly the best municipal council in Klang Valley in terms of town management. With adding more routes to their existing free bus service, its like placing the cherry on top of the cream.. Keep up the good work MBSA..
