Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF), in conjunction with Team Proton R3, has announced the finalists in its MSF-R3 Ladies Racers Search programme. Following an intensive series of courses with the Proton R3 and the MSF mentor team, four drivers have been chosen for the final selection process running up to the Sepang 1000KM race, where they will race under Team Proton R3.
The four finalists – Dayangku Faratiwan Adnil, Nurul Husna Nasharuddin, Ng Aik Sha and Samanda Lee – were picked from an initial selection of nine. They will now be evaluated on their driving behind the wheel of a Proton R3 race car on Sepang Circuit later this month. All four racers are currently participating in the MSF.
“To be honest, it was tough selecting the finalists. I can say all of them are good in their own unique way. There are certain criteria needed to be assessed for the final selection, all of which can only be truly seen during the driver training activity, where finesse is highly important in securing a win,” said Gary Lee, head of Team Proton R3.
“In rough driving conditions where aggressive weight transfers are required, that is where you can see who is smooth and calm – characteristics that are only found in those who can focus well. It is widely known that R3’s vehicles have very sensitive and sharp handling characteristics, therefore innate ability to manage the car without thinking too hard about it is crucial; more so in a race that lasts for hours,” he added.
“Seeing MSF racers being valued and chosen for this programme is an achievement that we are very proud of. We are honored to be given the opportunity by R3 to choose the candidates for this programme – and we are proud of the selected ladies to be a part of a Malaysian racing team with a history of excellent records,” said MSF Series principal Adian Yein.
“We hope that the Malaysian motorsports community will be spurred to support what these ladies have achieved, and aspire to reach similar levels, taking racing off the roads and onto the circuit,” he added.
With the final selection sorted out, the ladies will be driving a Proton Suprima built by R3 at Sepang this September 25. From here, they will be judged again and assigned roles accordingly, and will then prepare and train until the Sepang 1000KM race, which takes place this November 24. They will drive the team’s third car, a factory-prepared Iriz, that has been reserved for them.

Not bad, these ladies have done well. This is why must invest more in women in Malaysia. They should head ost Government departments in Putrajaya, because, women work hard and are focused in their work
