Change lanes without signalling, causing an accident – up to RM10k fine, 12 months in jail, warn the police

It is a common sight on Malaysian roads where motorists do not use their turn signals to indicate they want to change lanes. Worst still are those that make sudden lane changes, which is a dangerous act that can cause serious injury to other road users when an accident happens.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recently took to Facebook to remind motorist to be mindful of their actions on the road and to always use their turn signals as well as not make sudden lane changes. Should an accident occur that results in serious injury to other road users, you’ll find yourself in hot soup.

Bro, kesian king la…change lane responsibly ???????????

In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, the fine shoots up to no less than RM10,000 and not more than RM15,000 and imprisonment not exceeding 12 months. Prior to the amendment, those who were convicted can be imprisoned for a term of up to 12 months and be fined not less than RM4,000 and not more than RM10,000.

Haven’t seen anyone caught by this laws and jailed, that why it’s sudden lane changed keep happening every day, not to mention without signaling. Take drastic action to the driver caught on dashcam, slowly all drivers will obey to this old laws

Common at highway exit, change from fast lane to cut across into the exit.

Undang-undang pun dah bodoh.
